Games running slow?

Wed Apr 25, 2007 12:06 am

This may be a personal problem I'm having but it seems like someone put flash games on slow motion for me. Not like really super slow..but just a bit slower to the point I notice.

Happening to anyone else?

I'm not having any problems. :)

Both me and someone else have been having this recently too. The first day I remember it being bad was when Ice Cream Machine was the game of the day, whenever that was. The game was so choppy it was hard to play. We hadn't changed anything about our computers. Since then it has come and gone. We have reformatted one of the computers and it's still doing it. Really strange. I did find that downgrading to Flash 8 has made it not crash as much though. :/

Hmm. That sounds like what's happening to me. Ice cream machine is too slow to keep my attention and Ultimate Bullseye and Usuki Frenzy are really bad too.

I think I did recently upgrade my flash but I'd think if that was it everyone would be having the same problem.

I've been having problems myself, with the games you mentioned plus Turmac Roll, Snowmuncher and Faerie Bubbles.

Wow that is strange. We were starting to think we were going crazy. We tried to think of anything it could be. Since it happened on two computers on the exact same day and nothing else had changed, it seemed like it couldn't be us though. I checked the code for Ice Cream Machine and it's exactly the same as it was before the problem. So it's either the stuff it pulls in when the game loads, or something with the site itself. Very odd.

I've been having problems with game slowness since roughly January. I've been fooling around with settings on my computer and program upgrades, but nothing seems to help. I really believe it's a problem on Neo's end because of one game I've played. Bruno's Backwoods Breakaway - sometimes it's dreadfully slow (unplayable really) and other times, it's so fast that I have no idea what I'm doing. I've sent in so many e-mails about it, but nothing has happened. It's really frustrating, especially when games are your main source of income and they run so slow that you can't play them, thus you don't earn any NP. I really hope something gets fixed soon.

Yeah, now that I complained about it to all of you lovely people, it seems to have cleared up for me (for now)..although it's done this before so I expect it'll come back.

I think I've been suffering from this but only noticed today. Today, I got a fairly high score (it was reviewed) on Revel Roundup when the game felt like it was running much much faster than usual. Crisis Courier was actually too fast - I barely got enough for a 4k score. But it was only for about an hour - then everything stopped being fast. :(

I wonder if they're not messing with some sort of timing setting to try and foil the cheaters who use programs to slow down the games to get high scores. Maybe they're trying to find a way to detect it?

Quite possibly. They can't get everyone i suppose because almost every computer is different. All I have to do is play on my old computer and the games will run slower automatically. :D I don't really do that now but players who only have dial up not out of necessity probably don't have the top of the line computer. It would be nice though if they had a way to try and level the playing field by editing game speed on computers... I don't know all the intricacies of it though so it might be a big undertaking. Like you said maybe that's what we're seeing though.

Games have been reporting average framerate for ages, I suspect they already do some sort of filtering based on that.

They don't do *enough* filtering based on some of the scores I've seen. :o Plus if someone's using a cheat program I don't know if the game would know it had a lower framerate because its sense of time is warped at that point. A slow computer would definitely produce a lower framerate, but I don't know about the cheating. :/

Good to see it's not my computer.

Reading the list it occurs to me that the new specefications for Vista will really make a difference to how the games play. Perhaps they are doing something about that. To match the games more to the better machines they seem to expect everyone to buy?

AHH! This is such a big loss for me. Now I can't play ultimate bullseye properly.... well I can't even play it! The speed is way low... so low I can't get my score above 60. That also means a big blow to my WC map.

Same for wingoball, and worse than that is I was also doing WC on this game!
That means a daily 6k gone plus I can't do WC anymore...great!
