Your Block List

Sat Apr 28, 2007 10:02 pm

Your block list tells you quite a lot about a user, doesn't it? Usually, you will block a person because they are persistant neomailers, scammers or just general New Member. You will probably have told yourself that these users will no doubt get themselves iced one day. And boy am I right.

The new layout on Neopets has made me more curious about places I hardly ever check and my block list was one of them. I have five on there currently and I thought I'd see whether any of them were still around. I wondered if any of them had reformed but alas, that did not happen. Four of them have been frozen and one still remains but has no painted pets still and...well, nothing on his account shows me any kind of achievement. Plus, he hasn't been around for over 30 days already.

So then...what about you guys? What does YOUR block list tell you?

Ginger, I have hundreds of people on my block list. Anytime I put up a trade that says reserved or asks for a specific np and someone bids junk on it, they get put on my block list. It also includes people who write me begging for stuff. I politely tell them once. Then the second time, tell them that if they don't stop I will block them. Three strikes and they are out.

I don't have anyone on my blocklist. I was one of the few lucky ones, I guess; I never got a neomail begging me to abandon my robot pet or lend out my krawk for the avvie.

I will note that most of the people who adopted my former pets (sans the people who adopted them through here or Neocolours) are iced. :(

I only have 5 on my block list. If it werent so hidden away, I might use it more, but I hardly realize its there. 3 of the 5 are frozen, and the other two were blocked for spamming my neomails.

One of the folks I blocked neomailed me over and over because my old defunct guild had the word 'beeeyotch' in the description. I tried to tell her that I had no council powers to change that, and the rest of the council hadnt logged in for months. I told her that very few members still chatted there, and if she wanted to do something, she could report the guild and have the description cleared. She decided to report me instead.

The other person who hadnt been frozen spammed their BC entry to my inbox more than 5 times, and it was an ugly picture. So I blocked them.

I don't think I have a single person on my block list.
In five years of playing neo, I have only had one scam neomail.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones? XD

Pre-emptive warning: (Though I know this shining bunch of people above worked it out themselves :D *gives them all gold stars*) Do not mention names of people you have blocked`

Its just asking for trouble.

On that note, I notice all my blocked users have numbers all throughout their names...

1 person. I will not name her, but she was a piece of work. She had sent a rude neomail, I told her to stop, I got a barrage of more neomails, so I blocked her. I used to have a lot more, but I deleted them because they hadn't logged on in like a year.

Can I have my gold star now?

I have no one on my block list. Every annoying mail I get is always from somebody new. The only neomails I seem to get are "JOIN MY GUILD!!!" mails, even though I have guild invites blocked, and the ONLY thing I have written on my lookup is "NO I DO NOT WANT TO JOIN YOUR GUILD STOP ASKING" and yet, I still get the mails. I've started to just report them now, because seriously. That's just spam. It seems like my only option would to only let my friends mail me, but I don't want to do that. I have no issues chatting it up with random people, just the guild spammers.

Wow that turned into a rant. Sorry!

I thought I had at least two-three users on my list, but now when checked I apparently don't have anyone blocked. Weird.
Not that it's a problem - seemingly I'm also one of the lucky ones. I've only been spammed once in the five years I've been on.
Those peeps who intentionally offer junk, though...

I don't have a single person on my block list. I don't really get much junk neomails, thank goodness!

I have had to block over the last 5 years over a dozen or so people - ranging from just annoying people that wont accept I don't want to be n/fs with them to harrassment nmails.

I regularly go through them and delete those that are frozen.

At the moment, I have 7 on my block list.

1. Only a 6 month account, hasn't been online for 2 months. I think this was someone's side account that I blocked when they kept harassing me on their main, which I also blocked. Harassment that TNT obviously thought didn't deserve a freezing.

2. A 15th month account, still active - I had gotten into a heated debate on the boards with this person, he decided to keep it going in nmails.

3. #2's side account - you got to love their persistance.

4. A 6 month account, hasn't been online for almost 2 months. I can't remember the reason for this blocking.

5. A 16 month account, still active - this was a weird one! She nmailed me in a different language but I got the gist of it - she wanted to buy a PB out of my gallery. I said I didn't speak any other language and it was hard for me to understand her. If she was asking after the PB, then it wasn't for sale because it was in my gallery.

The nmails kept coming, half the words in english, half in her own language - she was angry that I was 'hoarding' PB's and I should sell her one. After about 4 nmails, I had to block her.

5. A pre-emptive block! I know it was a bit paranoid but during the LD Plot, he was being a real jerk on the boards, and I whenever I was on the boards and he was causing trouble I would try and stop it. I didn't want any nasty nmails. He causes trouble on the plot boards whenever there is a new plot - he is from another board and likes to stir things up.

6. A 6 month account, hasn't been on line for 2. This was a monthly tournament player (can't remember which game), who would send me a nmail telling me it was my move but she herself refused to play the game when we were both on line. Very annoying! I blocked her to save the aggravation.

Most blocks come from the neoboards ( I like being on them, so don't suggest I leave them :) ), and from playing the monthly tournaments.

I actually respond to a lot of my 'critical' nmails and show them the error of their ways and only block if they turn nasty.

I went through my blocked list today, I was just thinking of it...

It was almost three pages worth, mostly people who where either begging, bidding on trades that I said not to bid on unless I told them to, or those on the neoboards that were named scammers. When I lend things... I don't even want someone who might just be a scammer (though they might completely be innocent) I do now clear everyone that hasn't been on in 50 days to keep it a little neater.

I actually don't have anyone on my block list. I've never been bothered enough by anyone to really need to block them. :P I guess I'm lucky. ;)

I've got a few, but unfortunately the one person on there that I really DID want to see frozen is not. After my well-named mynci got painted baby, she mailed me repeatedly to beg for him. Like I'm going to give away a pet that I spent 8 months saving up to paint. I ignored for awhile, then blocked her. I thought that was the end of it until I put in my shop discription that I'm saving up for a faerie snowbunny for him. She logs in under a side (and tells me about it!) to badger me about giving her the pet AND the pet-pet. GAH!

I reported both accounts, but she's still not frozen!

Count me among the lucky ones ::knocks on wood:: I don't have anyone on my block list either. I don't trust the Neopets community, so I tend to stay away from anything that involves contact with other players I don't know.
