What do you think of the Neomall?

Wed Jul 18, 2007 10:29 pm

Just kind of curious. I personally think it's ridiculous. Not so much because I care that people can "buy" things for money, but that they expire!!!! What? It's not so much that you can buy and item...it's more like you can rent it...ridiculous.

Oops... I read the question as What do you think of NeoMAIL... then realized it said Neomall. :(

I don't really like the idea - I'll stay away from the mall.

I almost did the same thing too (ie misinterpret it as neomail) until I read through the options. I voted "ridiculous", although I could just as easily have been outraged ;)! It's a terrible idea IMO :x

Reminds me of the same sort of thing they have on MapleStory.
You buy items that last for 90 days, and then they go poof and you have to either buy new ones, or the same ones again. Except ...there, I can understand why they need to do it. While on Neopets ...it doesn't make much sense.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me. Having seen premium and cell phone paid options come, and getting enraged at first, and then later realizing that I have no interest/use for those options, this one didn't really bother me at all. I saw it come up, looked at it, laughed at it, and moved on. I doubt I'll ever actually buy anything to add to my pets, but I must admit to having tried stuff on for kicks - and then wandered back to my normal neo-life without really caring. It's a fun toy, but in the end, so long as they don't start making items that will actually change the way the game works (IE, battledome weapons, etc), I could care less. It's just another link on the toolbar that I will likely ignore...kinda like the "video' one (that doesn't work for me anyways).

I think its idiotic. Neopets already makes money off merch. and ads. now this? plus you dont even get to keep the items for very long, you can't trade them or share them with others.

I really wouldnt have as much of a problem with it if neopets was giving the money to a charity or something. but this is just pure greed to me.

And now this, Neomall

There are turning this game into Maplestory, I Would expect that sooner or later there going to bring out a training course time cut ( much like maplestory double experience card ) which attract lot of customer

It bugs me that it's a scam; they're a business, they can make as much money as they want, but jeez it's a scam to pay for some pretty little frivolous extra, then it expires.

Wouldn't it only be a scam if they didn't warn people that it would expire after 180 days?

It isn't a scam anyway, they say everything up front before you buy anything.

Someone in my guild or on a board bought the Down With NC Mall flag :P

It doesn't matter to me because it is optional. If I don't want to buy something, I won't, simple as that. There is nothing wrong with it, people who buy stuff don't get an advantage except having a pretty pet. It isn't like you can buy a SuAP for $20 or anything.

I'm not a fan. The button for it on every page bothers me most, for some reason.

HA! I said someone would eventually do that :P

I chose the "I don't care option". I DO think that the fact that items expire is riddiculous, but since I'm not going to buy anything, I - well, simply don't care.

Im more bothered with all the time and resources being eaten up by new things like the mall than I'm bothered by the mall itself. I bought $10 of neocash anyway. I could afford it, and the space trooper stuff looks pretty cool on my Sloth-supporting Shoyru. I do wish I didnt have to spend $10 though, because I have 350NC leftover, and dont want anything else.

I'm okay with the concept of it. Like Cerise mentioned, I was originally concerned with the fact that the artists making beautiful paid art might not be able to spend as much time and effort on the free art. But hopefully that won't be the case once the system gets rolling.

I personally haven't bought anything because I'm cheap, but I would have bought stuff at the discount prices, when the mall was first released.
