The oldest player?

Tue Oct 16, 2007 2:55 am

Just a little random bit i saw, wasn't sure where it would go....

I have a really old account from which i was referred into neopets (which i stopped using and have now lost the password to), the kind where your username is pre-chosen by the system and which goes something like neo775241. Quite a while back i realised that those accounts had time bugs...like the the "date joined" displayed in lookup was a date before i ever started playing....

Today i saw another bug when i was cleaning up my neofriends list. That old account was listed as a neofriend and the age displayed is 107 years old o_O , I KNOW the year of birth entered when i signed up was 1983, not 1893....

It made me wonder any of you had these type of old accounts and spotted similiar bugs... and precisely how old you can report your to be when signing up? Would the system accept it if i tried to sign up as a say... 250 year old woman? :p

I can't remember when I first started playing so I have no idea if date
joined displayed on my lookup is accurate or not.

But I did notice the unusual age. I saw it when my neofriend was
online the other day (I think it's also 107) and thought she just randomly
picked a year while filling up the particulars.

I'm quite sure there was a glitch some time ago that altered the ages of some peoples accounts and let them change it. I was lucky as I got to rectify it before they reverted back to not being able to alter the year again. A friend of mine had an age of -4 years old!

As for join date, mine has always said 4/20/2000 (american format) and as far as I remember I definitely did join on the 20th of April in 2000. It's possible old and inactive accounts could have suffered a bug like this due to not being logged into for a long while? I've heard of people saying that TNT told them their account had been inactive so long they weren't able help them get back into it. Also many said their password they knew to work didn't.

Saying that though I reckon it's probably more to do with the fact it was one of those accounts starting with neo#### though. I had friends on account names like that but didn't actually realise what it was about as I'd never been sent one of those referrals. My brother just said "Yeah, check these virtual pets out!" one night during a party (I know, how ignorant being on the computer) and I was instantly hooked. =D Nice to know why a lot of my neofriends at the time had almost the same name though! xP

I still have one of those accounts - neo911642, made on March 11, 2000. I don't remember what year I used as my birth year, but my age shows as being 107 years old in my neofriend list on my main account and my profile on neo911642 shows the birth year as 1900, although I can't recall using that year. I didn't use my actual birth month or day either though so who knows. All I can say is that I doubt I would have scrolled all the way down to pick 1900 (I usually pick 1985 just because it is nearer to the top of the list because I'm lazy that way lol) so perhaps there was some sort of internal Neopets reset of those accounts. At least I can confirm that one of the neo###### accounts has the birth year as 1900. Some days I may feel like I'm 107 though.......
