Potential Scam Alert! - Resolved by TNT!

Mon Nov 05, 2007 10:34 pm

New wearable item in news: Marshmallows on a stick.
Be warned, there is an advent calender item with the EXACT same name that ISN'T wearable.

(New) Marshmallows on a Stick
Name: Marshmallows on a Stick
Weight: 1 lbs.
Rarity: 86
Estimated Value (approx): 688 NP

Mmm... these marshmallows only need to be roasted.

(Old) Marshmallows On A Stick
Item : Marshmallows On A Stick
What better thing to roast over a fire? This was given out by the advent calendar in Y7.

Lol. TNT totally fails at releasing items. Plushie paintbrushes, shell wings, marshmallows on sticks.. they do not use their brains.

Just so everyone is aware, below are the pictures for the two items. Beware of people trying to take the Advent Calendar item and price it as the wearable item.

Hopefully someone has pointed this out to TNT, so perhaps they can do a slight name change. That's just way too close, and is practically an invitation for scammers to do their thing.

Thanks for the heads up!

Whoa. Waay top close. Didn't something happen like this, with a camoflauge potion, when they released the camoflauge paintbrush? The potion was a battledome item, but scammers sold it as a colour change potion. I think they changed the name to Potion of Concealment or something. And like varii said, there are loads of things that are too similar.

Why couldn't TNT have made the old Advent item into the wearable version? :( Seems kind of pointless having two identical items on the site.

Between Paint Brush Plushies, Magical and Nonmagical Neopet Plushies, and everything else, this is happening way too often. Neopet-altering items should be be marked or categorized or something so that these sorts of scams can't happen anymore.

This happened several years ago with the chocolate ghostkersword as well.

They've changed the name of the wearable to Mini Marshmallows on a Stick.

(Thanks to alicekitty for the heads-up!)

Neopets really needs to pay attention when naming new items.

Is this FINALLY a wearable that is gripped in (the pets) right hand to justify the very very silly poses our pets have held since the revamp?

Did I mention silly?

Yes but they've been able to hold puppets now for months since they became wearable. Also the newly released sparkler is wearable and I'm sure I'm missing something else.
