I was on another forum and saw somebody post a link, went and checked it out and thought it was silly. Saw another link a few months later and again checked it out and signed up

Pretty much every human being I knew at the time (September 2000) was playing and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I'm pretty much the only one who plays these days.

I was over and my neighbors house named Bobby back in 2003. His older brother Steve had started Neopets and had just created a Kacheek as we watched and became amazed. As we shoved the older brother off the computer we created our first accounts. I got hooked for a year or so and left, coming back in another year to create another account. This almost endless trial of accounts (4) lead to my current one and my love for Neopets.

My friend had been raving about it, then I saw it advertised in a magazine and wanted to join the fun.

Some friends of mine played it so I made an account too. Of course, they all stopped playing, yet here I am xD

My friend actually did tell me
A friend of mine did it for about a year, but he got a bit bored with it since no one else did. So he told me about it, in the hopes that I would like it as well. And of course, I do
And with me being fanatical about fun things like this, he had his hands full keeping up with me too

Well, I was about 10 and lacking a computer, so me and my best friend were on hers looking at Pokemon sites. One had a link to a virtual pet site known as Neopets - it sounded cute, so we signed up.
It took us about a week to learn how to login, though, so we must've made like 10 accounts...

Hm. That's a good question. {racks brain and takes self back multiple years}
AH, yes. One of my online friends got into it, and within a week had me into it too, and I got hooked. It's quite amusing, because I used the text files I saved our RPGs in to copy/paste out what I needed for the old Maraquan kitchen quests (ah, back when they asked for Cherries and other cheap things), and from time to time, there's saved comments in our RPGs about Scorchy Slots, etc.
Anyways, I took a break for about a year or so (during which inflation apparently happened?!) and then got back into it when a friend of mine mentioned it. Been hooked ever since - and got my husband into it (at the time we were still engaged) as well - and my sister and my brother and a couple other of my friends who got interested (but didn't want to admit it
), made accounts (without telling me!) and then I later found out when they needed help and started asking me questions.

Over 6 years ago my nephew had told my kids about a site he went on. My kids had a look and played around but it took another couple of months before I helped them make accounts (I knew nothing about online/virtual games), then I use to watch them interact with the account - so different to what I thought it would be.
I really liked helping the kids with their accounts, so about 6 months later I made my own account.
To this day I wish I had made an account as soon as I found out about it (would have had a 7 yr old account by now).
* My kids accounts were both self frozen as they got bored with it!!!!!!!

There was a girl who moved into my neighborhood who I became quite close friends with. She kept telling me, "Join Neopets! It's fun." However, I didn't actually join until I went over to her house and saw her sister playing in the battledome, which made me excited because I thought it would be similar to Pokemon. So that's what made me join.
However, I have never really used the battledome...

Interesting stories
As some of you probably know, I used to live next to to the Powell family. *gasp* (I can say that here without getting frozen
) My mum worked at school, so everyday we would be in school half hour early. As we lived next door to the family we got into it from them. I could only play it at school since we had dead slow internet. (That would take literally 10 minutes to load a page) I didn't have an account though, I just played the games. But when adam came back from LA to visit we would always get merchandise, and on a couple of occasions we met memebrs of TNT and got some stuff signed. When I moved to Holland we got broadband, I created an account, got adams email address and bobs your uncle!

Wow, I can't even remember the year I joined; but it was an awfully long time ago; I saw my sister playing it, and she created me an account.
This was back in the day of the 'Thief Guild', and the 'Jibjub', and 'Bruce' actually being a man in a tuxedo.
Neat stuff.
