You have received an official warning from the Neopets Team for violating the Neopets Terms and Conditions. The Trading Post is for trades only. It is not for guild ads, shop ads, showing off presents, or for a gallery. If you continue to break the rules, your account will be permanently frozen. To see a list of Neo Rules, please visit

Apparently putting Not for Trade on a trade is against the rules
People have done this for years, but it is now apparently breaking the rules

In a way, I'm kind of glad that they've finally started to crack down on this. It can get quite frustrating when you're trying to find a specific item, and half of the trades are there just to showcase the items and you can't even offer on them.
Especially now that it's possible to have a shop and a gallery, I don't really see a point in putting them as NFT anyway.

I was trading an item to someone. If I put an item as "Reserved" I get a bunch of New Member mails asking "Who is it for" or "Can I have it" or "How much" which is why I put NFT instead. The trade was up for < 3 mins and it took TNT 11 hours. Someone probably reported me

I always thought that's what "NFT" was for anyways...not for trade, but rather reserved for someone else already, so don't bother. Ah well. Ask the editorial?

I've got the emails of 25 mods and I am going to mail one asking for some clarification. Last time I got a question in the Editorial, it was in the Neo Magazine and it took at least 4 months.

I think someone probably reported you because they wanted it. That's usually the origin of this sort of thing.

If they put this in writing somewhere I will be so happy. I hate it when I'm searching for an item and I have to deal with 50 different lots with "NFT" "No touch!" "Lookie what I got =D" ".-._*My plot prizezzz*_.-." "Buying more of these" etc. If I go to the TP I'm trying to BUY something, or maybe check how much it's going for. It shouldn't require going to the second (or tenth) page of listings to do that. The last one is kind of understandable, but still iffy to me. If you're buying more, offer on some of the lots! Jeeze.
No offense to you siouxper because what you were doing was understandable. I just would put a different message from now on.

Yeah, I've never seen this in the rules or in writing anywhere
I've had to deal with hundreds of New Member mails dealing with reserved trades, and after a while, you just put NFT so no one will bid.
Even if my warning isn't "voided" I really won't be too mad. I was just mad because I never even heard of this being against the rules.

I'm almost positive that this was discussed in an editorial or something at some point, because I've had the notion that you couldn't "display" items in trades for some time now. If I get a chance later on today, I may do some hunting and see if that was the case.

I hate people that put NFT on their trades. Guess what? The Trading Post is for trading! If you put the trade up for a specific user, put reserved or something. I usually get offers on it anyway, but they're easy to ignore. I've seen trades that say NFT up for ages, and I really don't like filtering through pages of people who aren't going to trade to me when I'm looking for an item.

Looked through the rules page, and got a question.
Although this is strictly off-topic, can anyone explain Rule 11 to me?
"Party boards or outside chat rooms of *any* kind, including advertising for them on other websites, instant messengers, guild parties, party role playing or anywhere else. Using spaces or symbols to try to hide that word is not fooling anyone."
Btw, they're basically saying 'NFT Trades' are spamming the trading post, right?
Sat Apr 12, 2008 4:51 pm
Yeah, NFT trades are now spam.
I can think of a few users who might have reported me out of spite, especially after a board I made yesterday asking whether I should report someone for admitting to sharing accounts. One person on that board posted a long angry rant directed at me

The NFT thing has always irritated me in the Trading Post...that's what the galleries are for...and if you're just concerned for the Pant Devil, put it in your SDB. If you're reserving it for someone and putting NFT is now against the rules and you don't want people bidding on it, try putting a crazy number of NPs next to it...that'll scare them away.

Why not just state the name for whom it is? Doesn't even have to be their real name or username, just put in a name. It'll be more obvious that it's actually for someone than just 'reserved', like it is 'NFT'. The latter one just gives off wrong signals, I even saw one once that said "waiting to inflate"..
You might still get offers from New Member, but you'll get them with NFT and Don't Offer as well.
