Site Preferences change - Age

Tue May 06, 2008 3:14 pm

So, after the Birthday sidebar was deactivated, it didn't set me back to my normal sidebar. Sorry, site theme. (Still can't seem to call it a site theme). Long story short, I had to go back to the Preferences and change it back to the ROTD theme.

When I went there, I noticed a change: there was an option for "Displaying your Age" below the site theme line: "Visible to all neofriends," "Visible to VIP neofriends," or "Hidden to all neofriends."

I thought this was interesting to begin with, as I don't recall ever seeing it before. Have I just missed this feature? If so, how long has it been there?

I don't know when it was updated, but it has been there for quite a few months - I noticed it when I changed into the Return of Dr. Sloth site theme.

Heh, I must've just totally missed it, because I switched over to the ROTDS theme right after it came out. {shrugs}

I find it interesting that TNT implemented it, after having had so many years of no choice. I guess now, if you get locked out of your account, and forgot what your bday is (assuming you didn't use your real one), and had that turned off...well, there's no way to tell when your age changes.

I noticed that a few months ago when I changed themes around. I think it's interesting for those who don't like to show their age to other people.

You can alternatively ask TNT about the birth date thing if you chose a wrong birthday before they added that feature where it asks. I've heard of a few people being successful in getting access although you have to provide a lot of info. Personally I think everyone who has written a wrong one should immediately write it down somewhere in their house like a diary. All my accounts but one are the correct birthday. The wrong one was me being silly before finding out one day I couldn't change it back (as back then you could change the whole thing so it was fun to say you were over 100 or minus 4). But I was clever enough to write it down -go me- and won't get locked out in the future. ^^

I like this feature. I'd like only accepted neofriends to know. I disliked the idea that someone just had to friend you and they knew your age without accepting.
