As your fishing skill improves, you can get stuff that's actually worth something. Kinda. Don't expect too much: It's still a daily like the omelette or jelly.

crash_bandicoot_psx's petpage has a great run-down on avatars and items available from Underwater Fishing, including the skill level you need to catch each item. (The layout's a bit iffy, but you can't have everything.) Some of the items are genuinely pretty nifty for a daily prize.
