I don't think level was calculated, and labbing would only increase the stats that we know for sure were counted, strength and hp. To give you some sort of idea of how screwy it was, I used my lab pet who had about 450 hp and the 200 strength boost or close to it. In previous wars, with my 250 hp 125 strength pet, I averaged around 2000 pts. In that one, I got 35.

I can guarantee that levels didn't matter. My lab pet with about 500 hitpoints, 150 strength, 15 defense, level 1, and crap weapons, was put in the mid range of battlers.

I managed to eek out 20 points.

That is the very same score as I got in my very first war--the initial invasion of Meridell which started right after I was began on Neopets and had a pet with creation level stats.

I hope it's a war, and I hope it's set up the way someone on here(I can't remember who) suggested, way back when--cap the number of each wave you can kill. So first wave, easy-to-kill monsters, kill 75 or so of those and you have to wait for the next wave before you can kill anything else. So you don't have really high-level battlers taking out all the easy monsters right away, and the wave(hopefully) lasts a little longer. I remember getting a bit frustrated in whatever the last war I participated in was, where I'd log on at least once a day and still miss a wave of invaders completely. Maybe the later invaders would have higher caps, and the last wave could have no cap at all, so people could still score absurd amounts of points if they wanted and their pets were strong enough.
But rank system=bad. I'd rather have free-for-all than rank system.

Or go back to the way it was before that and not have limited opponents? In the Meridell vs Darigan war, you simply fought until you couldn't fight any more. None of them disappeared. None of them poisoned you. The problem with that one was being able to steal from Darigan and earn 100 points a win rather easily, and switching sides to earn even more points. Oh, and the prizes where scoring more points didn't necessarily earn you a better weapon.

Should I start training pets? What should I train them with? Should I invest in good items? etc. <3

A war is generally lots of fights against various leveled one-player battledome opponents. You usually earn points for defeating opponents, and earn more for stonger opponents.

Thanks for clearing that up!
So basically I should train because if I want more points during the next war, I should be stronger :P
I'm so lousy with all this battledome stuff. I have no idea where to start.

Battledome enthusiasts might start getting angsty if there isn't a war soon.

For Neoquest 3, I think we'll be hearing a lot of references to how hard they're working on it long before it ever shows.

The IDB is a great place to start. You can find information on all sorts of weapons, strength boosts, and other useful things :) . There's also a forum, where you can ask any questions and talk to other Battledomers.

Wars, wars, wars... Why is everyone so focused on violence? :P

I have never spent a nickel on stat boosts, although I would like the lab ray... So I think that I would do terribly at a war.

I dont like the battledome either. I only increase my stats in training on the free days, or anything i get from the lab, which i have for the colours (lot of good its done for me there though!)

I liked how in one of the wars (cant remember which one) you could be a supporter - but it was implemented badly as if you got asked for an unbuyable you bascially couldnt get any points as you couldnt cancel it and ask for a different item. They should make it so you can cancel it after 24 hours or something, so people dont cancel all the time, but can if they need to.

We have logic puzzles and we have wars. I wish we could have something different happen on the website. I am not sure what I want, maybe some quest to get an exclusive pet that you can only get from the quest or some other kind of magical item that isn't battledome related.

You know, for me, neopets isn't about the battledome. I love my pets and I may fight in the wars now and then, but the site isn't about the fighting.

I could care less about that. I do like a good war now and then, and a logic quest. I just wish we could have something different. Prizes are usually battledome stuff, which puts the point/focus on the battledome. I might win a war or get an exclusive battledome thing, but I hardly would use it. I would have more fun with a new paintbrush or with access to a new world you get to by completing the quest. I think people who don't want to fight their pets should have more options on the site, more things that we can do.

People who don't understand Neopets think it is all about the fighting of pets. They think that is the point to it. But lots of people play and don't fight at all, or only fight in the wars. Still, we get left out some. I wish we had more interaction with our pets somehow, more things to do, and prizes that are fun for everyone, non fighters and fighters.

I hope if they do make a neopets movie, it isn't about fighting pets at all. I don't want people to think that is the point. I played neopets since the beginning practically! And the battledome wasn't even what it was about back then. Back then it was about the pets!

Yes yes YES! I've thought that lots of times. I wish there was more interaction with the pets on neopets. More stuff you could do with them, and more poses. Like... you could do something and they could be in a running pose, maybe you could enter your pet into races? Or they could fall asleep. Wouldn't sleeping poses for all pets be cute? Or some sort of playing pose when you played with them. And those collars and other neat clothes items, I wish you could actually put them on your pet, and they would show up in the images! Of course, that would be a lot of work for the artists, but phht! That's what they get paid for. Those are so ideas that wonder though my head from time to time.

Anyway, there is a lot more interaction they could add, and more cool actives and prizes they could do that don't have to do with battling. Battling is fun, but there's more to life. ;)

Eep! I've wondered off topic. Sorry! *shuts up*

Interesting topic. So as not to go off topic I made another thread about it here: http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29280
