This has been bugging me for a while. My 6-year-old account was frozen two years ago so I had to start again. My old account had a book award, a stamp award and a solitaire award. With my new account, it is next to impossible for me to get any of these awards.

The book and stamp awards cost so much (I think you need 1000+ books now to get the trophy) that unless I were to be at my computer 24/7 making money, there's no way I could afford either award. As for the culmulative solitaire award, it's impossible to compete with people who have been playing for years and accumulated years worth of scores. The same can be said for several other games as well.

Any suggestions for dealing with this bias?

Well, I've never really been one to go in for any of those cumulative type trophies because I think they're a sort of unfair/impossible/boring. I'm not sure TNT really thought about that when they started those things. People who've been playing for years will undoubtedly stay at the top while we tip away getting nowhere. Still... You could try for the Booktastic Book Award... t'would be less of a bother. I nearly went for it when I started my current main account but I got bored. I could have got a trophy too... Ahh well!

I suggest focussing on other trophies instead. I've been attempting to get good at games, however slow I am with my wee 56k modem. =D

Doesn't the accumulated score for games like Sakhmet Solitaire reset every 3 months?

I'm bummed that I didn't know about Neopeats earlier. I can't get any of the cool plot/war trophies anymore, but hey, that's life. It's unfair. That's just how it is.

Let's say you entered for a contest, but something goes wrong with your entry. You enter again, but the contest is already over. You can't expect to still be able to win. Maybe you can see it this way: older players or players that started first are rewarded for playing the game longer or from the start, devoted players usually get more. It's too bad you lost your old account, but that's more of a different matter than the newbie bias topic.

If there was a way that everybody could be happy about everything, I'm sure it would've been made public.. Some things just suck. You can either accept it or, well, not. Doesn't really change anything though

Well if you think about it, all those awards are, are "I've been on neopets for ages, and I've devoted a lot of my time to get this," so not having them, isn't such a bad thing.
