Oh, I think you can win at any time during the day, but the solutions are only valid for a chunk of time each day -- but that's much better than it being random! My first time actually finishes by 9:30, but I don't know when it starts, so I've no idea how wide the window is. Today I tried at 11:15am, and went left-left but should have gone left-right.
ETA: The pattern is not perfectly time-based, but I'm getting treasure far more often than I should be by chance alone, so maybe the window drifts with time (like the Black Pawkeet treasure does), or maybe it varies by weekday. I really should keep a spreadsheet with all my attempts to find the pattern, but I keep hoping someone else figures it out.
