A few weeks back, I went to a hyperlink in a word document (someone's email address imbedded in a word document) to send them an email. And instead of my normal outlook express popping up, I got a little gold window with my username @neopets.com to pop up instead. It wouldn't let me send a message--not that I would have wanted to with neopets.com on the end of it. Like, everconfused, said, I don't want anyone to think I am any crazier than they already do.

But, I don't have it anymore. And, the weird part was that I didn't have a window open for Neopets at the time, but had played it earlier that day. Weird, huh? Anyone care to wager that it got there via a "tracking cookie" of some sort?

Hmm, well Morningstar, I have my own thoughts about that...did you have the portal or the toolbar? I did visit the portal once -- I couldn't sign up for it but I got to see it. Was kind of freaked out to see my local weather, pets and other info considering I wasn't logged in. .

No, I didn't have either, which is why it was so strange. My daughter put the portal on her computer after finding the link on PPT, but I never did--too much of a bother, I figured. I never even went to the link.

Where did they actually say you get 2x Random events and the like? I've never heard of that. Not anywhere official for a start.

And so they want to make money? So do I. If you don't buy it you have nothing to worry about. I would probably never buy it. Unless they made some webspace on it for neopages. Wouldn't use the neomail email though, since I have my own.

But as for the figures. I still think it's presumtious to think they're all millionaires. Every company has to make money and no company just does stuff for free. Which is understandable. Like other people have said, the money they make pays for all kinds of things. Unless you own a buisness your self you can't really make a guess on where it all goes. Even then you can't really because all buisnesses are diferent.

Still either way. It's free, I've been on it from the start (Almost) and if people want to pay for a premium service, then let them. It might not even work in the end anyway and it can't harm anyone.

I hate it because even if you are getting a free trial you have to enter your credit card number.

A funny thing about the Premium Service is that the user needs to be age 18 or older, according to the Terms of Service. It doesn't say anywhere that kids can sign up if their parents consent. It does say, however, that one of the reasons you have to be 18 is that some of the content would not be appropriate for kids. And here I thought that Neo was targeting younger children more and more these days. Hmm..... o_O

Maybe their will be less sponser stuff too.

It is a big deal when they say they will have special random events, avatars, and items just for those people. It shouldn't change the game for people who pay money....

Good point, one which some parents won't get, nor would the kids. But either way, this discussion has very little to do with me, because I couldn't use the ISP even if I wanted to (A phone CO-OP/ISP doesn't allow competition unless we all want them to.) So, unless I wanted to go through the hassle, which to be perfectly honest, Neopets isn't worth it to me, it would be a no-go.

But even if I could, I wouldn't. I have other things I'd rather spend that money on.. and they have much better overall - and proven- customer service. Even when I was using them as a "free account". Those are my only real problems with the Premium... Why pay for something, when their customer service has already proven to be lacking?

What's the problem, the only thing the extra features are only well...extra. Neomail Avatar and 12k are easy to get and obviously has a catch for the Neopoints, and also the Neomail avatar you can get elsewhere. Neopets Portal and E-mail you can live without too. o_O

They arn't becoming a pay site you know....

Of course the Space Faerie doesn't seem the type to do paid advertisements to me. XD

I don't see what all the huff is about. Don't like it? Don't get it. That simple.

Personally, I'm tempted to get it. You can live without the stuff, I know, but I'd still like to get it.

*shrugs* Let the Team make some money with this. They've got stuff to pay for to keep the site running, let alone pay for things in the office and at their own homes.

Neopets premium seems fairly harmless to me, largely because it's also fairly pointless. Who would pay that kind of money to get a web-based email and a portal?

If it appeared to give people a serious advantage, I'd be more concerned.

If it let you keep more than 4 pets on an account, I might sign up. :-)

(Actually, no... then I'd lose one of my pets if I ever decided I didn't want to pay for the service anymore, which would suck.)

I just hope it doesn't turn out into a runescape type thing. When runescape introduced the P2P (pay to play) service for members. The community was divided into 2 and mostly 18+ and 17-.

There will be a new type of scam widely introduced with fake credit cards.
If you need a password to sign up then more acc

SO basically if P2P members (rightful name) can only access certain parts of the site such as Yullieland(new world) then we might as well rally the big people against it. New items and random events for P2P members could drastically diminish IDB, Neodaq and Neoitems.

Ive also got a feeling that employment agency job cards have something to do wiht this.

Remember if anyone plays runescape. The community will be divided into 2. If this is an extra e-mail address then I won't care.

I think i'm gonna be on powerpets now. Neopet's rival  . The real money system there is better. Features of extended quickstock.
