But the 80 x 80 pose for the kougra seems to have been done already.




I thought they were going to have a vote..?

I thought it'd been already changed to that a while ago o.O

perhaps this is one of the images we'll be voting on?

All the images for the red, yellow, blue and green kougra have been changed, but with the argument from fans, they stopped after the basic colours, to change the other colours after the vote.

Voting is a great idea...

i don't like the new one either, and the poses have been like that for a bit now, i even think it was in new features.

the only kougra i like is the current faerie one, i LOVE it! i had one, but morphed her to a uni, and painted her baby lol but i still have screen shots of my lovely faerie kougra

Yeah that one is cool! I also like the tyrrannian one. And the spotted one... It looks like a cheetah or something

actually i had forgotten about the spotted one it does look like a cheetah, and i love the baby one too its so cute! lol

the tyrannian one looks a bit more like what i expected the kougra to be, fiercer, and not so dopey cute looking. its good drawing the new one, but the head looks a little off, but hey, i'm no artist lol so i couldn't do a better job

Oh, so my spotted kougra is safe---hurray!! But, my poor green kougra--she was my first pet.

I love the old version--there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I hate the new version--because instead of having a cute little face looking lovingly at you, you get a pet that can't even look you in the eye. It went from being cuddly and sweet to looking scared and unsure of itself.

Why must these artists insist on justifying their jobs by making over pets that don't need any making over? I can name several pets that can use a new dose of paint--how about that usul for starters? Dabble with some of those guys and leave our kouggies alone.

If you think the old Kougra was "fine" and that "nothing was wrong with it", well... I won't get into name calling. Look at it compared to all the other pets. It's old. It's out-dated. It's flat and boring. You just need to accept change.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Kougra and thought it was awesome when I made it, but having a Uni, Skeith and Moehog with it, all of which have been updated, well... she just looks out of place now.

I was fine with the Kougra re-vamp, but I'll be fine with the re-re-vamp as well. They just need to get going with it. I wish the editorial was working for the Times, because I think the people at Neopets need a little reminder about the vote (which this topic had got my hopes up about... curse you! )

I hope they don't forget about this, or give us variations on the newer "cutesy" look. I agree, the old kougra may have seemed a little flat(?), but at least it looked more like a noble big cat (think cougar, lion, lioness - the "baby"/kitten one is adorably cute like the baby kougra, but a grown one? - I don't think "cute" when I see a picture of one).

The remake is, to me, kind of like the lupe revamp (took a noble, could be fierce wolf-like creature and turned it into an overgrown puppy). Too cute, out of balance - that long skinny body, kind of silly look it their face.

So, yes, a slight change to the kougra would have been fine, but I think they went too far. Not everything needs to be fluffy/cute.

Of course, I'm no artist and I do respect the work that goes into any of the art on the site. I just don't always agree with the outcome.

Well you certainly can't blame some of us for being nostalgic and liking some of the older version of the pets. In this case I would prefer the old version over the current one anyday.

Personally the Royal pets set a standard in my mind on how the revamped Kougra would look, it still looked more big cat like without going overboard on the cuteness (see the Faerie Kougra). They pretty much reversed and messed with that standard with the basic colors (not against the artist, but the head looks way off in my opinion it.) Since this I've been satisfied with one other recent illustration of the Kougra (the TCG Green Kougra) which seems to be a better merging of a revamped look with some of the older and big cat traits.

See, I happen to think the new Lupe is extremely well-done. And I think the new Kougra was fine, just not it's Happy pose or Sad pose, and since the Happy one is the one you see the most, I'm kind of glad it's getting re-revamped.

You also have to remember that the Kougra is based on a "Tiger Cub" (that's what it was called when it was chosen to be a pet). So it's not meant to be a noble big cat: this pet is supposed to be "cute".

I still don't get people's definition of cute though. To me, the new style that pets are drawn in is cartoony, not necessarily "cute". But to each his own.

I can respect that some people don't like the new one, but I can't understand people who think that the Kougra was fine the way it was. I also think that Neopets needs to understand that people will always complain. Hopefully the result of this vote will be the last re-vamp and they won't give in to complaining users again. I've been waiting since the Skeith re-vamp for this to happen.

EDIT: Rune, I have to agree with you about that card. Yet I look at it and I still think that everyone will think it's too "cute".

I'm glad they're revamping the Pets. They all looked so flat and dead before. Now they're more animated. To heck if they're 'cute-ified'. O_o; I'm just glad they aren't flat and hideous.
