I'm thrilled with the new transfer system. I've already moved around some of my pets, me and some friends of mine are planning out some swapping around of avatar pets, and I've already got my transfers planned out till the end of summer. LOL

Does anybody know a way we could calculate or even estimate the adoption cost of a pet? A friend of mine wants to borrow one of my pets for an avatar, but it happens to be my BD pet and I'm afraid his stats will make his adoption fee more than I want to pay. Is it just based on level or all stats combined or what?

judging from what I've seen so far, I think it's all stats combined, but level weighs more. don't know exact algorithm though.

I have seen SO MANY boards today about people losing "their pet" because they didn't have the patience to wait a month and had used up their one safe transfer. I have seen so many boards with people crying because the new owners wouldn't give back "their pet". I just want to warn you that if you abandon a pet now, you will most certainly lose it. Before you might have a chance during nonpeak hours and using the quick adopt link. It doesn't work the same way now. If you care about your pet, wait one month to do it safely. If you don't think you can possibly wait, just sit and think a minute how you would feel if you lost your pet. If you don't think you would feel sorry, and want to risk it, then go for it if you must. But don't call the new owners cruel or insensitive if they don't want to give back "your pet".

you know what TNT could bring out for this? A "Transfer pet ticket" at the NC mall, good for one extra transfer that month (one use). Why not? They've already put out a "Featured game ticket" a "Neoboards pen" and the infamous (short lived) river rush items; this one might actually be welcomed. I don't think it will be terribly unbalancing.

Not sure, but for comparison this pet cost just shy of 8k to transfer (plus the 1k from the other side of the transfer). Hope that gives you a ballpark.

Thank you Siouxper that's awesome! (and thanks metalmario too, your pet was actually a very good ballpark estimator for my pet, he'll cost just over 8K) Now I know transferring my pet won't be too expensive, although still something I won't do often.

But now this latest editorial has got me very confused:
Let's say you use the transfer option to receive a Neopet that's being lent to you. How long will it be before you can use the transfer option to give it back? There appears to be a lag of a certain number of days. ~indulgences
It is currently set to once a month, but we soon hope to have it set to once per day.

Does this mean that they are going up the transfer all the way to once a day?
Or does this mean that currently an individual pet can only be moved from one account to another once a month, but they will change it to once a day? I'd really like to know this for sure before I lend out my pet. I wouldn't want to be with out him for a whole month!
