I have found that when I am in a rut or find myself becomed obsessed with making nps, to take a little vacation from Neopets. Do something in real life and force myself to not even think about Neo that entire day. The pets aren't going to die. The nps aren't going anywhere.
Then sooner or later, I start missing Neopets and come back to it fresh and with my batteries recharged.
Also, I have learned after 2-1/2 years of playing that to stay in the game, you need to mix it up. At first, I only played games and got bored with that quickly. Then I stopped playing games and only resold. And soon that too got boring. Once I started dreaming about shop wiz bargains, I realized that I was too obsessed with reselling. So, I started a gallery and invested every np in it. But, got frustrated because it seemed to be a neverending chore. So, I joined a guild. And, hung out there chatting and being sociable. That got boring after a while as well.
So, now I tend to do a little bit of everything to keep myself on my toes. I love reselling and do mainly that. But, I play games every day--because they are fun, even if the points aren't much. And, I try to add to my gallery every few days. Because I love finding bargains to put in my gallery. And, I chat in my guild as often as I can. Because I really need the interaction and the ability to help others. Some days, I do more reselling than chatting. Other days, more gallery stuff than games. But, never just one thing for any length of time.
I think that if you only do one thing the whole time you are on, you are going to get bored quickly. So, you need find a few things that you enjoy and do those off and on when you play. So, you don't get stuck in a rut.

Become the Santa Claus of Neopia! I'm not joking...mostly. I mean, what better thing to do with your money than donate it- help people, etc. If you are that bored and don't want to waste it on stuff then help others. Also, have you considered buying the entire lab map (if you haven't already) and zappin g your pets until you die? Hope this helps!

I was at that point a few weeks ago. So i started to invest in the stock market. Now I do the dailys, play a couple games that I like, deposit 1k of that a day and invest the rest in stocks. I found that drawing my pets and making banners and other graphics for my gallery and lookups is enjoyable too.

I was at that point too a few weeks ago, but I found that playing Neoquest 2 is a nice distraction

Take huge breaks. That is what i do. You take like 1yr of break. Come back and learn everyything again. You kinda become a Temporary Newbie. It is pretty cool actually. Just take a break and stuff...

every1 always tells me that im "to old for neopets"..i tell them to ******...in end if i do get bored i would make a gallery or spend my np on worthless junk

Uhh...giving stuff is always fun. Something I always love to do is to stock my SDB with as many items as I can, and also put some of my favorite items in there. That's kept me broke for years

Mmm...taking a break is always good. I took a six-month break from Neopets awhile ago, and when I came back I found myself more interested in the game. Take a break and come back to Neopets when you feel like it.

I recently just bought two more lab maps, to use for my work at the adoption agency, DLAA.
I decided that I shouldn't just let my NP rot- so I decided to always have 1.1 million NP. Any extra NP can be used for whatever I like (that's how I bought the two new rays)
I make almost all my NP from Food Club (made about 300k in 3 days recently), stocks, and Turdle racing.
What really keeps Neopets interesting for me is places like PPT. Being able to discuss things with other players, and you also don't always have to talk about Neo.

I already have a gallery, then found it to be a waste of money, a project that, thanks to the new pirate's cove jellies and rare jellies, is impossible for me to complete.

Well, think about it. What's something you HAVEN'T done? Have you gotten any avatars? Have you made a gallery? What about collecting trophies? I had originally left the site for about 8 months (September 2002-April 2003) and when I came back, things were a lot different and interesting. Maybe all you need is a few months off. By then something *might* just catch your interest.
