How much is it, exactly?. I don't need internet service or the ability to block
ADs, just access to the super wiz. Since I'm "aging" an account right now I
wouldn't need that for about 4 months. :P But still!.

.. There's a flat fee per month right?.

7.99 usd a month

I'm still on trial but I totally love it, made over 200k in two days sniping codestones. I'm going to pay monthly just because it's not one huge bill to pay at once and I really don't mind paying a little extra.

It's all in how you look at it... $8 a month is almost $100 a year, and I could think of a lot of things to do with $100 a year.

You could also look at it as about 4-5 subscriptions to magazines or pay-only sites, as nearly as much as Rhapsody or the cheapest Netflix subscription, or an album a month via most music download stores.

I'd rather have an album a month or 4 magazines than premium, myself. I already block ads with user stylesheetss.

Actually, the prices are $7.99 per month or $69.95 per year. I pay by year so I won't have to deal with monthly payments out of my account and it saves a bit.

I <3 premium. :) I think it's worth every penny if you are more than a casual player. The SSW saves me so much time and makes pricing my shop super easy. I'd pay just for that. lol The no ads, portal, and SHH's just add to the deal. Beta testing games is fun, too. :)

I'm with the Premium lovers here. I accidently signed up for the monthly pay, but will change it during Summer since that is when expences are at their least for me.

I'm not a heavy RSer or SSW sniper, but I love the portal. The favorites list is most used. The quick jumps to the various NP worlds. The 'Great Games' section has got me addicted to many new games and really help cure boredom by playing random games.

I can see where some do not like Premium. I agree that it is frivelous, but I'm at a point where I can affod to be frivelous. Plus I don't mind paying to help with TNT's finances.

Q wrote:They allow people outside of the US to cancel by emailing their tech support to avoid the cost of calling. If there were a simple cancel button, and your account was compromised, you'd be out of service rather quickly ;) They also have a live chat option. It's quite easy to get in touch with them from any country, and they also have a nice help page and FAQ that answer most any question.

They have their T&C available to read, as any other company does when you sign up for their service. Most people don't bother to read, though. It would be much better to read that than what a player says, as it is easy to misconstrue or misinterpret information (which can be done quite innocently).

You know, if that whole kaos business was really that widespread, there would be very few people playing Neopets at the moment. And if Premium support was so hideous, most would not keep paying. I do rather think it's better to look at everything carefully and rely on facts rather than guesses, emotions, and rumours.

What do you mean by compromised? Like someone scammed/cg'ed into it and cancelled my payments. Because that's what I mean by cancelling. Cancelling premium and payments. I don't see what damage they could do by simply cancelling premium. Since I lost my account already by then.

Livechat? Can you get there from your non-premium account? I had the impression you couldn't. I mean in case you lose premium for a strange reason, while you're still paying. (I've heard some people around that had this problem.)

I didn't know about the emailing the tech support. Thank you for that.

This player called their support. Their reply didn't sound very convincing. to me.

I don't know how widespread it was, since Neopets covered it quite quickly. People did get hit by it. It just got me thinking about their support system.

I did look at it carefully. I read Leto's page, which I find very informative. Read posts about it. And came to the conclusion that I will not get it, for now.

Dang. What exactly did you snipe to earn you that much? Makes me almost want to get Premium...but I won't.

There is a way to search for paint brushes on the SSW and morphing potions and stuff ;)
When you look at all of your options on the SSW it's easy to figure it out :D

I can't post it here because the other snipers with this secret will crucify me :P

If you really need help with it, PM me, but if you stare at the SSW long enough you'll see an option and figure it out :D

Oh wow. Nice. I was mainly looking for it to look for codestones (since I'm training my pets up.) But that's very interesting. :)

There are still free 15-day trials available. I just signed up for one about an hour ago. Premium definitely has its perks..don't know if I'm sold on it yet though.

I live in a foreign country, not the U.S. I can't imagine how hard it must be to get good support from here, if it already hard to get it through the phone. (There was a post that someone called the support, what if information, like personall adress or credit card information got into the wrong hands through a scam, cg, whatever. What would Neopets do? Basically, they said that it was all in your hands and they bore no responsability. That really put me off.)

Plus, the fact that you can only cancel your premium by phone... I mean, no simple cancel button?

I love playing Neopets, don't get me wrong. But I wish for a better support and an easy cancelling feature (played Wow, something like that) before I lay my personal information and money in their hands.

I live outside the US too, and from just being on Premium for a couple of days, it looks like there's far more support for Premium users than there is for free Neopets users, although obviously I'm yet to test it...

In terms of giving my bank details to Neopets, the recent scams/ cookie grabbings don't concern me. Financial information would be dealt in a completely different way to passwords etc, and as it's a secure server, TNT have to adear to certain security standards. Software used to protect financial information is already widly used in online banking, shopping etc, and has been around longer than sites like Neopets, Live Journal etc. Also, the recent security problems on Neopets have stemmed from user-cutomisable aspects of the site, like shops and user lookups. Obviously only the staff are able to change any parts of the site that involve you entering your financial details, and I suspect security for those parts of the site would be *alot* stronger, for obvious reasons.

Of course, going Premium is a matter of personal preference, but it's just nice to have imo :)

They have four types of subscription packages:
yearly Web Pack (19¢/day)
monthly Web Pack (26¢/day)
yearly+dialup (27¢/day)
monthly+dialup (52¢/day)

The dialup packs (you do not have to use the dialup service) give you subaccounts so a whole family can have premium. The web pack is for one person, and you get one alias with that. Slots open up occasionally at premium.neopets.com, or you can get a referral from another player.

There is no way for someone to get your personal info if they break into your premium account now, since that information was removed. Plus the actual service is not Neopets, it is with a company called VSI.

One great benefit of Premium: since they can verify who you are when you contact them, if your account has been broken into they can return it to you within the day. There is also a Premium only frozen form, so you can possibly clear up a misunderstanding much faster and get back to playing. (If you've been naughty, though, you'll be iced for good...they don't play favorites with Premiums!)

Add to that the complete removal of ads, Super Shop Wiz, portal modules galore to organize your play and give you alerts, and Premium portal and Neopets report/bug forms, and you're all set to be one happy player :D

It's not for everyone, it rather depends on your playing style. It suits me to glance at my portal and check on my stocks, guild, plushie tycoon, multiplayer games, etc. all at once. SSW is nice, since I stink at RSing and don't care to refresh the SW over and over and over, but those same prices do appear on the SW.

I love my premium account most of all the supershop wiz and the luck charm necklas. I just wish we could pay for it in neopoints not actual money. :D

That's very interesting, thanks Q. I will think it over again. *is tempted again* *but needs to save money too* *sigh*

Why don't you just sign up for the trial period? 2 weeks is quite a bit of time, and if you decide it's not worth the money you can always cancel so you're not billed for it. At least it'd help show you what Premium has to offer. :)
