I don't actually think they have. I've been getting it just as much since they brought it out on all 3 of my lab accounts. The species change is just not as likely as the colour and stat changes. HP and level increase/decrease seems the most likely thing to get. But still you never know

This is just my experience, but I find the messages in the lab ray affect the outcome. If I zap on "I'm very scared" I get stat increases 90% of the time. When my pet says something like "But I like being a Tuskinanny" I get species/colour changes. Anything else takes away my stats.
I always do it this way to get stat increases (I want training, not changes
), but I did switch it up recently to get the PWNED BY LAB avatar, and to paint my other pets (since my main pet is waiting for Tuskinanny day ). And so far, it has worked surprisingly well.

Interesting! I was wondering about this. I wonder now if I would refresh or close the page and start lab ray over would I get a new message. Or would it say that I had already used it?

Yeah, refreshing the page will change the message. I usually refresh till I get "I'm very scared." So far while trying to paint my Eyrie I've had 2 nights of "and he doesn't change at all" while following my method...
I bet it was robot and MSP that I missed...I just know it.
Of course some people will say I'm nuts and its completely random, but meh, whatever works

I have the lab on two accounts. On one of them I get species change quite a bit. But on the other account I rarely get it. I get a lot of HPs on that one.

Completely random.
I started off with a Kougra, it ended up as a Ghost Lupe after more than a year's woth of labbing. My next pet, started off as a Jubjub and is currently a Green Eyrie. I get a species at least once a month, but once again, it's totally random.
