My lab maps were free, 25k, and 100k. Longevity has its advantages. ;)

Neopets is getting way too difficult to get into. It costs ridiculous amounts of np to get a pet even close to the way you want it, training and color-wise. I know that if I can't get a goal achieved soon after I first start on a game, I usually wind up leaving. There need to be more entry-level paintbrushes and training methods if TNT wants new users to stick around.

On the other hand, there are far more ways to make np now than there were a few years ago. Inflation's coming from that, too.

I know what you mean. The only reason I keep coming back every day, is to zap my korbat.

I must say though, that Tarla is a spiffy way of cutting prices on items. However she doesn't give out 100k+ items. Or at least, not so far.

She gave me a starry pb that deflated drastically seconds later. :(

Wouldn't it really be as simple as TNT raising the % chance of certain prizes, restocks and random events a tiny bit, and allowing more of the item into the market? More of the item = lower price, no?

In theory, yes. That is assuming the people who win the paintbrushes want to sell them...they could be used or gallery'd.

Using logic, a percentage will always use, a percentage will always hoard and a percentage will always sell. Bu upping the total percentage of paint brushes given out, the percentage of sold p/b's will up, no?

Also, I forgot about the starry p/b in regards to Tarla. That said, I don't think the under 1 million p/bs are the ones in need of deflation -.-

O.O Man, I wish I would have started playing years ago!
I felt overwhelmed and almost quit when I first started, 3 months ago. But luckily I stuck with it and set myself a reasonable goal to start with, a shadow paint brush. I got it in two months ^_^ But now I'm making NPs much slower than I was at first, and the things I want seem impossible to get.

I really wish they'd release more of these expensive things so they'd deflate a little bit. A challenge to get the stuff you want is good, but it seems to be getting a bit out of hand.

You said exactly what I was thinking and couldn't word correctly. I know that when I started..well, when I really got into neopets, the things I wanted were expensive, but not unattainable. I remember looking at a list of unbuyables and there was nothing there that I really wanted. My first lab map cost 55k I think..but that's because I really didn't understand the whole 'Treasure Hunt' concept. They need to bring back that game..maybe make it a tad harder, but it'd bring the price way down. It also seems like 4 years ago I had many more color changes then I do now.

I love neopets and we give TNT a lot of crap, but over all they do ok. The one thing they do need to change is that the site has to go back to being user friendly. Keep it safe and clean yeah, but make it fun and playable for those who put the money in their pocket.

That's pretty much how I feel. I adore Neopets, and I appreciate the fact that's it's there for us to use and to enjoy, but at the end of the day Neopet's is a multi-million dollar business and it's us the "common Neopians" that keep the business alive it's us that puts the money in their pockets, and I'm not just talking about Premium members who do pay real money, it's all of us even those that don't pay. We bring the sponsers in, which in turn brings them money, lots of money.

I understand that there are a lot of people on this site that don't like anyone to say anything bad about Neopets and I get a bit upset when people in "real life" say "Neopets, oh my gosh you play Neopets, that's so stupid" and then I proceed to tell them everything I like about the site and how it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, the people I meet, the challenges, it's great.
I love it, but I'm not going to kiss Neopets backside and defend everything they do or to go so far as to say that Neopets has no flaws because it does, there are lot's of thing's I despise about Neopets, but there are even more thing's I love.

Of course there are those people who go a bit too far by blaming certain members of staff for thing's that happen, which in my humble opinion is wrong. It's not always the staffs' fault, sometimes thing's just happen.

Let the skinning begin, it's ok I can take it. I have thick tough as leather skin.

It's just a game, it's just a game, it's just a game, it's just a ga....Yeah, you keep telling yourself that.

Yeah, exactly, to what both of you said. The key word here is playable. Yes, it works out very nicely for those of us who have been here forever and were pretty well set before inflation got out of control, but the game's getting to be too hard to be very fun if you don't have your account they way you want it already.

I love the game, and that's why I just hate the fact that some newbies are getting scared away once they realize that it'll cost them hundreds of thousands of neopoints to get that pet they want. Neopets needs a constant stream of new users to bring in sponsor money. I would like to think that lots of new people will spend a few years playing and having fun, but I doubt that they're retaining as many members as they once did.

We need a NeoFederal Reserve. :)

I agree with you all. :( I don't have the time to earn 20k a day just to keep up with inflation, which is why i switched to maplestory. Everything there is attainable except for some stuff no one unable to make that much money needs.

I left Neopets once. And recently got the account back. Thankfully I used my actual birthday. I was considering leaving again. Its fun and all. but the prices on some things.....its stupid.

You cant even get a shadow paint brush, with out spending 300k, and I just hit 400k again. A few months ago, I had well over 500k but then, I bought the lab map {50k}, a tanizard {40k} and a few other petpets.

And not to mention the halloween paintbrushes are becoming unbuyable, because of the holiday. Dont get me wrong, I love halloween. Its my favorite of all the holidays. But to raise prices, because of a holiday? I was talking to a friend, and she said, that the prices of the halloween paint brushes prolly wont go down, till the next Pirates movie is avalibe on dvd. And my first thought, "and then the prices of the pirate pb will rise"

I don't think 300K is too unreasonable for a paint brush. It's the ones that cost millions that are insane.

Jeez, I can't imagine the pirate brush going up any more! 3 mil is painful enough! *sighs* Will I ever have my pirate eyrie?

I'm hoping to paint my male Lupe Pirate or Halloween. And my female Shadow, but with the prices, right now its too expensive. I keep hoping to win one in a game.
