But I DID think of this. I thought of this the other day, and no one cared then. People said I was over reacting and it would never happen, but it did. I even wrote to snarkie. I wrote boards on the help chat about it, but no one believed me and no one cared then. I wrote to neopets with the feedback form and I wrote several editorals and everything.
That might not be so bad. It would make people work for their pets, and it would make people think before transfering. If you were willing to give up your pet's color just to get it on another account, then you must really love your pet a lot. It wold put more focus on adopting a pet, not just for it's color. And people might start trying to name pets better as well.
So it would be like this:
Are you sure you want to pound your pet? It it will revert to a regular color, red, yellow, blue or green. If you are sure, then you may continue.

I don't think most of us expected this was going to forced upon us so soon. Why even allow us a couple days testing a beta and reading user feedback? I definitely expected at least a few months between the beta testing and the actual introduction of everything so new and different. Then again I expected them to consider user feedback a little more seriously so that they could make changes to the beta before releasing it.

They'll probably 'reset' all of the movable items again before introducing new wardrobe items, and make it so color-specific items must stay on the pet that was painted.
If not, whatever. It's not MY problem. If someone wants to go about doing that, good for them. My pets are staying safe where they are anyways.
I just dont' think it would be a good idea to revert a pet to basic color when it's pounded. THAT is a silly idea. When you put a pet into the pound, it goes as is, and whatever happens to it in there is up to whoever adopts it next. (Remember the Green Uni Project, people?)
So if someone wants to pull a Royal Lupe out of the pound and put its clothes on a normal blue lupe then pound it, good for them. Someone out there WILL still get a pet that's called a Royal Lupe, it just won't have the schmancy clothes.

I think I'm so shocked by this because I honestly didn't think TNT were stupid. I mean, I knew they had flaws and had changed over the years..but stupid? Of course not. In my mind, this is something that would have sent up a red flag the first day they were even contemplating adding the clothing feature.
I don't know what is wrong with TNT right now (well, greed)..the only way I can see them justifying this is by saying something like 'Well, paintbrushes are so dang expensive, we want all pets to be able to be fancy!' or something. Which again, totally alienates the players who are commited to the game and have played for a while.

I did expect them to redraw some of the worse looking pets before releasing this permanently. You'd think they'd listen to all the feedback about that. If they don't make my pets look un-ugly by next wednesday I'll have to morph them all into lennies. And I've
never wanted to morph any of my pets until now.

I'm thinking that another interesting version of pet-stripping would be to lab a pet into a pb color, strip its clothes, keep labbing to a different pb color, strip the clothes, etc. You could build a whole wardrobe for your pets from just one lab pet.

I had an island hissi; it got zapped into a shadow one; I now have a shadow hissi with island gear on.

YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN OFFICAL WARNING FROM THE NEOPETS TEAM
Ok, I was warned. I can deal with it. I know how to behave myself and they should not have any more problems with me. I'll be careful what I say from now on, if I indeed even use the boards again at all.
I was encouraging others to abuse what they call "a glitch". But I was upset about so many changes to the site, and I wanted to draw awareness to this problem, anyway.
If this is "a glitch" then why can people adopt pets with petpets and and battledome items attached and then pound them?
Oh well, I wasn't frozen, but I wanted to tell people not to discuss this on the neoboards because it is
"a glitch"

..wow, you got warned because they didn't listen to you.
I call Kaucrap.
Seriously, TNT, why the heck did you allow something like this to happen? You've had PLENTY of time supposedly to test all of this out and make sure no one could abuse it, and yet, THIS slips through.
I dunno what to think anymore. My safe haven for the past six years is suddenly looking more and more "Blah" by the day.

I .. don't see HOW there is a problem with this. This was the intended effect, judging by the editorial. You have the same risk to lose a pet in a transfer, an d now instead of it being transformed into a Green Uni, you also risk it's special clothes being taken.
smudgeoffudge, you likely did not get warned for WHAT you were doing, but for encouraging glitch abuse in general, which is a big no-no.
And of course, this ISN'T a glitch, but that is beside the point.
I honestly think it's a neat idea. I might have to start zapping my pets again, because of this mix-and-match quality. ^_^

I think it may be a glitch. The pound is closed:
ERROR : The pound is down for maintenance!
Well, at least they are fixing the "bug"

So what happens if, say, I find a cute shirt or something (if one day they release wearable stuff) and put it on my lab pet... the nzap?
If I get a color with other clothes, will that original piece of clothing disappear, I wonder?
Sat Apr 28, 2007 3:31 pm
I don't know if they'll be changing how it happens, but my jubjub kept on Robot Clothes when it change to a Red Kyrii, so you could probably be safe in assuming it'll keep the clothes it has on. I don't know if they've coded it for the default clothes to get sent into the closet.

The best way to combat this, would just to have a warning that you have to remove "blah blah blah" before pounding - similar to the warning about having a non-trade item attached.

Well, in beta I believe that if your pound pet changed speices, the clothes came off and went back to your inventory..but as they weren't our clothes they just disappeared.
