You guys are always talking about how it's just a game, which it is, but you complain about the injustices of it as if it were more than a game. I love the game and I'd be devastated if it were frozen. But I'd move on. Of all the things you choose to have a day of action against, you pick neopets? Understandable, it's not like there are more important issues going on in life or anything...

Very well put. I mean, Canada just had its record lowest number of people who voted on Monday. They were probably all on Neopets... *joke... or is it?*

Anyway, I agree with everyone that shroomy said, and I learned a lot about how Neopets actually works which surprises me. But you've actually been saying what I've been saying: They are individuals, and that the programmers/artists aren't the ones doing merchandising, so the sponsors and merchandise aren't interfering with their work.

In America, more people vot for the stupid American Idol than they will for the presidency. If people would put the attention they do into trivial things into important things, we'd have a less problems in the world, no?

A round of applause for you shroomy, REAL nice selective quoting of my post you did there.

shroomy: like many other statements by TNT(as a group) you contradict other members of your group. It has been stated by TNT that there ARE bots that auto freeze. Also, if you think that allowing us more information on the staff 'allows us to hate you all on a more personal level", then you shouldnt complain about being treated the way you are, because frankly theres no other way we CAN treat you.

if TNT really ARE trying to improve the system, then why are freezings becoming more common and now IP bans beginning to be given out like candy? Or were you all pushing for it to become more strict?

neopets does do a great job, but they have serious PR problems. The users arent kept up to date on the site, they dont know the condition of the servers until they lose something. They have a lot of great stuff, but the reason theres all this anger boils down to the fact that you lack a few things:

-server status indicator(indicating high load, or low server load)
-alternative to freezing system(and im NOT talking IP bans)
-clearly defined rules, even when they were 'updated' nothing really changed

you give us a lot, we really appreciate it, but a redrawn kougra, compared to that listed above, is simply NOT what these customers want...

As for the DoA... i think itll be as successful as many other boycotts(not at all). restockers probably wont even notice

its understandable to be frustrated at our behavior. But keep in mind that it was as a reaction to TNT's policies. Were all frustrated, we have to work together to get through this. Neopets players and neopets staff have a symbiotic relationship here, however the staff need to keep in mind that we as a group provide for their livelihood(i have NO problem with their mechandise or advertising, they arent all greedy, they need to eat too!), and a customer whose lost thousands in 'fake money' translates to a customer who doesnt buy TCG cards. Unlike the DoA, it isnt a threat, its a statement proven true hundreds of times over.

i think one thing TNT can really do to improve the situation is...make it two..are:

please get rid of the freeze bot, it's not helping the players and the support staff. many of the game cheats that can be caught by bots are pretty obvious and can be done manually. same goes for the bots that are stationed at the message boards. pls do not have the thinking that" well, those that got frozen by mistake can always write to us to redress"..the support staff is already quite stretched and many of them have already presumed that your account must have been frozen for some good reasons. chances of getting back your account is really slim once you are frozen and honest players are hit harder than scammers really.

please get rid of the "report this link" function. every single reportable case get dozens of reports which results in thousands of emails for the support staff to read. mass reporting and false reporting have become ramphant nowadays and it really slows down and minimise the chances of important cases getting noticed. the current situation is like everyone's rushing to the ER for every little ailment they have.

i believe by doing these things, it would reduce some work load of the support staff and increase their efficiency.

Do you mean total votes, or number of people voting. Because when you're voting for presidency, you can only vote once.

I dont know the specifics, but you get the general message of the thread?

Thu Jul 01, 2004 10:48 pm

Well, I don't think the DoA would do anything because not enough people are supporting it. shroomy brings up good points but I agree with everyone here that we (as the general Neopian public) hate being left in the dark about major glitches.

Thu Jul 01, 2004 11:45 pm

how about they start by unfreezing everybody who got frozen, wrong or rightfully. there are so many wrongly frozen! i just got frozen wrongly for multiing today! So many people whose hard work went down the drain...(22m in my case)

dont tell me that its at all good when some kid' neopet 'dies' when their account got frozen. Its so harsh, especially with their target audience, im sure theyve made more than one kid cry every day for this, including me... :x

To unfreeze everyone who was rightfully frozen would probably release quite the little plague of cheaters, scammers, autobuyers and overall nasty people on neopets. Creating a snarly little environment.

Shroomys an artist. And I think some people here are forgetting that. Her powers (if i'm not mistaken) with neo lie in the artistic end of things, not with unfreezing, moderating or general site upkeep.

a. its not too difficult to make a new account, nor get around IP bans. The cheaters are still here and will always be here. Its too much for the staff to verify the validity of the frezings and there may still be mistakes. Many good honest players have quit and left the game due to this policy. If they get their neopet back or w/e more loyal players will come back. The current policy just causes spite and anger amoung the frozen. *hint* independence day is coming up, its a good time to free the accounts :p

b. BUT shroomy can talk to the rest of the Team, even though she doesnt have absolute power over everything, she has a lot more influence than we do. I think that most of these comments here are more calls for help than commands...

Our legal system's motto is "we'd rather let 10 guilty people go free than send one innocent person to jail.'
I think neo needs to pick up on that.. At least investigate a little more. They shouldn't be freezing 10 innocent people in the hopes of catching one 'cheater'.

Fri Jul 02, 2004 2:25 am

i agree. i believe i am an ip target. i also believe because of that my friend was frozen unfairly since he uses my computer. they need a better system. people lie easily and they are believed. people on their bad side get iced or warned.

i suggest a fine. depending on how bad a rule was broken.
there are a only a few rules i think its nessary to freeze over. like people who like to post highly innappropriate things(like making body parts out of symbols and whatnot), scammers, cheaters.

people who are accused of exploiting glitches (weither they knew it or not) should simply be fined the amount of np they "won" and warned that exploiting the glitch is freezable. they certanly should never be frozen if they report the glitch.

shroomy nice to meet cha, i'm glad someone from the staff finaly said something... being silent like that makes it hard on us and i'll admit i'm a master at jumping to conclusions.
sorry i pictured you guys plastering the walls with money while dancing around my frozen zafaras. its a little hard to think otherwise when some guys get away with being sick and i get nailed for calling a kid a dork.

Well, i mean, obviously it's nice to see shoomlah again, but given that we are the "big-bad" fansite apparantly, why didnt TNT bother sending someone "higher" up the ranks.

Skullsplitter... remember that guy Adam... you know, the one they say helped start it all? He was here after all for a while wasn't he? And he adressed one or two things, so I'd say we've definetley been all the way up the chain.

ANYWAY, as one of the DoA NONsupporters let me just say the fact that shroomy showed up here is awesome, and I'm glad she's giving the chance for us all to see things from her perspecitves/TNT's. And if it wasn't shroomy, then I bet TNT would agree with the points anyway (though I'd put my money on it being shroomy).[/quote]

Excellent response to all this DoA nonsense Shroomy. I can understand why you left these forums now.

Nice to see you visiting Neopets "fan" sites. :D
