I will sound like a total newbie, but I've never heard about refreshing advent calendar. Are you guaranteed of a dailie winter event or something like that if you do so?

Winter RE
While I was pursuing the Snowbeast as a Battledome Challenger, I refreshed otten at the Advent Claendar and the Gift Tags I sumbled upon a few Winter Random Events, in fact all were Winter events that ranged from getting a snowball thrown at my Neopets to a Icy neggs. And yes I did get the Snowbeast as a challenger but the worth of those random events remains better than the rest I had in the rest of Neopia.
It would be interesting to make a test of having different people refreshed exclusively in a specific area of Neopia for a while and see what comes out of it. It may turn out that each regions gives worthwhile random events if we stick long enough in them.

I beat NQ2 on Evil again (finally) and got a Scuzzy's Comb!
I've had a lot of luck finding codestones lately. Got three in the past two days.
I found some ham 'on the floor'. Umm...yay?

Wow, so I took a break from neopets for finals. I come back and the neogods love me.

Boochie fired his ray gun and missed (I wouldn't really have minded too much, but I would have been miffed.)

Plus two levels on my fightin' pet from Deadly dice, + points on the other stats from Coltzan all this week except for twice.
One of the times I didn't get stats raised from the shrine, I got a 2 Dubloon coin.
Upped my avatar count by 10 or so
Can't manage to get the Mutant Graveyard of Doom avatar to save my life.
Faerie Bubbles is relaly messing up for me. Which is sad, because it's like my fav.
My lab pet is doing horribly. 'She' has lost stats every day I zap her and is now a Grarrl and keeps on eating things out of my inventory.

G: Had a very pleasant surprize after about 2 hours at Bilge Dice, they upped the max bet to 1,000NP, whoo! Don't have to spend much time on the game anymore!
Um, yeah, they could've realized long ago that it was too big of a prize from REs, but I've gotten Christmas Paintbrushes twice from those.

There are some pretty good Winter REs. All kinds of Icy Neggs, Xmas Paint Brushes, Snowballs (which I collect)..
The top of Terror Mountain has a slightly increased chance of Winter REs, and the Advent Calendar even more. I've been doing about 25-100 refreshes daily at the Adv. Cal. since November or so and have found five Xmas PBs so far (worth 110k each)

Got iced last night
Wasn't nearly as upset about being iced after the first 30-ish minutes
My team is in round 3 of the Altador Cup. Go Krawk Island!
After getting over being frozen, I laughed because I realized the last thing I ever did on Neopets before knowing I got iced was playing Hannah and the Ice Caves.
After being on my new account for less than a minute, I found 20 Neopoints onn the floor. Not much, but it helps.
Found an Ice Negg a few minutes ago while playing Cliffhanger.
Got up to 70 avatars in about 15 minutes on my new account, thanks to a list of ones where you just need to go to a certain page.

this is ridiculous! my pet just got zapped into a christmas eyrie, and i know that people LOVE christmas pb and all but it SUX BIG TIME! drats!

I have gained np every time I played WOE this week.
Still no av from WoE or WoM
My pets won't level up on fishing! I fish multiple times a day, and yet my pets won't level up, when they catch stuff!
No neopets pages will load! I was in the middle of another game of dice-a-roo!
