Weird and Horrifying Shop Glitch...

Sat Jun 18, 2005 7:03 am

Argh, my shop just glitched! I was just selling off things to finally get the laboratory map when I accidentally closed the tab window I was using to stock. So I used Firefox's reopen tab function, had a problem with an ad loading, hit reload and... all the prices of my items went completely bizarre... 15500 for Ghost Pancakes, 5 for Flotsam Ice Shell, 15000 for How To Model, and most horrific of all 1999 for my Brucey B! It's like the numbers played musical chairs in the most horrible way possible.

//insert wailing and gnashing of teeth//
I tried to bring the price back up to 99999, hit an extra 9 by accident, was told that I couldn't price anything over x-amount and... the card was gone. I'm not a restocker, I make a couple of of thousand neopoints a day via games, so that's literally months of work down the tubes just because I stupidly tried to reopen a tab instead of opening a new page. (Oh, I also noticed and fixed the Flotsam Ice Shell and Ghost Pancakes prices first before it struck me to check on the price of my most expensive item in stock. //insert malleting self icon here//

Has anyone else gotten a glitch similiar to this or am I just special? I know I'm never reopening a tab nor reloading on the shop stock page, ever again! *goes off to crawl into a hole*

Sorry to hear about the glitch, though.

You could have quickly reset your shop, but other than that... I am terribly sorry for your wierd glitch.

That used to happen to me all the time.

If you refresh while your pricing, then your browser loads the form with the same prices in order, even if you've already sold an item. And the more your prices get out of whack the faster items sell, so it compunds with every refresh.

It's happened to me with IE and Firefox, it's best not to refresh on that screen.

Yeah I recommend just opening a new page and starting to reprice your items over again. Better safe than sorry. :-/

I thought you had to click "update" before the prices take effect? I'm a bit confused on how this happened... though it is terrible luck, I'm so sorry it happened :(

Edit: If the buyer is still in your shop history, you could try neomailing them and explaining what happened, asking to buy it back (maybe with a little more than they spent, for their troubles). It's no guarantee, but it's worth a shot!

Thanks for confirming what actually happened fifthmonkee. *ingrains into mind 'do not refresh at the stock loading page EVER'* And yeah, it didn't strike me to try and remove all items at once until way too late... I'm not always the quickest on the uptake. :P

Anyway, in a bizarre coincidence I ended up finding another Brucey B for 700 nps today. (Which hopefully the seller meant to price at and it wasn't another glitch.) So lesson learned and everything is okay on my end again.

happened to me

That happened to me yesterday. I'm using mozilla too if it's relevant. Luckily I rset all of my prices back to zero in time.
