An advert for passion.com on neopets.
A dating site with a picture of a woman in a bra accompanying the advert.
Does this really tick anyone else off? This isn't what neopets should be like...

Well. If they read e-mails, I'd send them one.

"Since breasts are now acceptable on Neopets, can I finally write "suck"? How about talking about some good old-fashioned politics? No?"

How can I block them? I have a pop up blocker but nothing that blocks the adverts.

The advert doesn't actually offend me, but theirs no way in hell it should be on a primarily childrens website. Especially one on which you can't even talk about dating.

The adverts in general are damn annoying but putting explicit adverts is taking it too far. I'm just glad the crazy frog advert doesn't sing.

Anyone else think Adam and Donna should take Viacom to court for what they've put on the site??

Parents will. Neopets will quickly fall downhill, because mothers and fathers of children do not want their babies to see boobs escaping from shirts on an ad on a child's site. I'm not offended by these ads, I barely notice them, it's the fact that when I do... it's iPods, or dating. On Neopets.

Maybe we should file a formal complaint? Have everyone send in an e-mail that is generally the same. After having the exact same thing sent to them over and over, they might get the point and talk to Viacom.

If you see an ad you feel is unsuitable for yourself just report it and it usually gets taken down within half an hour to an hour. But you need to report it for them to be able to do that otherwise they don't know.

Viacom isn't responsible for the ads, the ad companies neopets use are, or neopets itself is. Also ads are sorted by age group and location, ads like that along with credit card ads and insurance ads are only shown to over 18 accounts.

So yeah, report the ad and the ad gets deleted :)

Ah okay I would do that except I need proof or the page source. If it comes up again I'll report it.

Thank something I use Adblock.
Unfortunately MSN Explorer doesn't have that option, and fortunately I have yet to run into an ad with such content.

I must be lucky. :P

Get firefox or mozilla, and then download adblock (it's on the mozilla site).

Then read this thread:
http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16710

You might be able to report the ad anyway, without the source. It's best to report it with too little information now than to wait and find out other people have been seeing it too.

EDIT: just so we're clear, that's an exceedingly inappropriate website for ANY age, let alone one that might be advertised to 13-year-olds.

Luckily, I have no pop-ups...ever, because of our Ad-Blockers and Firefox. But, this advert does tick my off- because Neopets has some very young users. For such a kid-friendly site, this is terrible :x !

Their main fault in all of this is that they're not the ones who cirrulate the ads, they rely on the third party systems to take care of that. If it was done in house I'm sure that most of these ads would have never been seen by anyone period.

I've been seeing a few ads for birthcontrol.. =/ I'm wondering why the heck I'm seeing them when my account is in the 13-17 age range.

I'm really starting to think Neo should get a chance to SEE the ads before they are put onto the site., this is really starting to get stupid.

Most people of that age are aware these things exist, most of their magazines go on a fair bit about them.

Like I say though, if no one reports the ads then neo can't do anything about them. If you want rid of them then just fill out the form and hey presto they'll be gone. They only still appear if no one actually tells them.
