I just finished collecting for that blasted packrat avatar. @_@ What a pain that was. It took forever because I spend most of my time at Gaia now and I didn't want my box filled to the brim with junk.

But now that I've gotten that avatar out of the way, I'm going to be selling a bunch of stuff and that means I'll have some extra cash lying around. I've always wanted to make a gallery and originally, I was going to make a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shrine but the items needed for such a thing are too many in number and costs a little too much to collect/maintain... Also, I wouldn't get an award for it because it's not Neopets related and quite frankly. I'm having trouble doing anything without being rewarded.

Getting to the point, I have Four ideas for a gallery.
Title: Dr. Sloth Shrine
Idea/Contains: Obviously a shrine dedicated to Neopets sexiest villain, all items being related/about Dr. S.
Why?: Dr. S is my fav villain. (Surprise surpise.)
Originality Rating: 1.5/5

Title: Black & Orange
Idea/Contains: A collection of all items that are either orange, black or both.
Why?: Black and Orange are the colors of Halloween and they're two of my fav colors.
Originality Rating: 4.9/5

Title: Sssnidney's Sinful Halloween Town
Idea: Keeping it neopets related with Sssidney, it will be a gallery containing only halloween /Sssidney items, maybe a couple of villain items as well.
Why?: Halloween is my fav holiday & Sssidney is cool.
Originality Rating: 4.1/5

Title: Gallery of Evil
Idea: A gallery dedicated to every villain neopets has, or at least the the top 5 - 10 ones. The top three being Dr. Sloth, Jhudora and Vira.
Why?: Because those three are my top three villains.
Originality Rating: 2.9/5

Please note, that the originality ratings are my own and I would like it if you based your opinions on what you think. I also need a lot of answers in a short ammount of time. Currently, my SDB is filled to the brim with items that would fit any one of these ideas and I can't begin to sell without knowing what I'm doing first! (And the ideas listed below can still be suggested...)

Lendend: Title - Originality rating - Why it was dropped.

Red, Silver & Purple Gallery - 4.5/5 - While one of the more original ideas, not only are these items aren't as numerous in my SDB, but this idea would be harder to collect for and I'm starting to get sick of the whole color combination.

Ogremon Gallery - 5/5 - YES! I am a digimon fan and my fav is probably the most disliked/under rated digimon ever... This idea is the most original but I again run in to the problem of not getting a reward for my efforts and I wouldn't know what to start shopping for... Though I guess I could always make it an Ogre related gallery with Tyrannian & some Halloween items...

Ghost Gallery - 3.9/5 - Another very original but also dropped idea. The Ghostkerchief's are rather expensive and as a matter of fact, so are the rest of the Ghost related items. Though I may try going for this Halloween 2006.

My views:

Dr. Sloth has been proven to look quite nice, if carefully put together. The problem is that it has been done before and you would have to make it different to the other galleries in some way.

Black and Orange is a nice colour combination that would be almost certain to look quite attractive, if done well. However, there are a lot more items with black and/or orange than one might first suppose. If I were a viewer, I would both admire it and think of all the items that should be in the gallery but aren't.

Sssidney probably is not as common as Dr. Sloth and would look more original and individual. I don't believe there are many Sssidney items so it would not be hard to put that together. It might be difficult to get people to like Sssidney, though -- more people like Dr. Sloth than Sssidney and those galleries are more popular.

Gallery of Evil would look neat and be somewhat interesting. This idea doesn't really impress me straight away, though, and you need to impress the judges right off the bat if you want to win.

Although I personally would like the Black and Orange idea because it would be pleasing to the eye, you did mention you don't want a high maintanance gallery. Overall, I voted in favour of Sssidney for relative individuality, the possibility of adding a few items of your favourite items and possibly some halloween items (including black and orange).

Perhaps you could try searching a halloween item, a Dr. Sloth item, etc on the Shop Wiz in the category of Gallery? I discovered that gives a fairly good idea of how popular a type of gallery is and it may help you decide what you want to do. Hope that helps, anyway.

I'll have to go with Black & Orange.

The two colours look quite good together, and it could shape out to be both a pretty good looking and interesting gallery.

Me thinks Gallery of Evil is a really cool idea!

Wow. I didn't expect anyone to type this much in one of my topics... Thank you muchly. Your advice is logical and sound! Wish I thought of it first. Out of all the ideas I've listed as possibilities, B&O seems the most reasonable and creative... But I would like to know what your opinion is on some of my scrapped ideas. If you don't mind, that is.


Also I can have it Jack-o-Lantern themed. XD! But that might make it too Halloween-ish... Hmmm... but then again, October would be the prime month for it to win. The colors are that of Halloween.


Yes but I'm also wondering if it would be too expensive/time consuming... I can't afford items like Hubrid's Box, a Jhudora Faerie Doll and the like. Items that would definately get me the award... The things I do for mere rewards...

Red, Silver and Purple: This is an uncommon colour combination so it would create some interest. However, I personally veer towards a two-colour combination rather than one or three. One would look plain and boring. Three may be too many colours all at once and may cause sensory overload. Two different colours, like black and orange, give enough variety and contrast to stay interesting, as well as leap out of the page enough to catch your attention, but usually not enough to cause you to blink a few times. (Exceptions would include contrasting colours such as purple and yellow.) More importantly, you said you're getting sick of this colour combination. There's no real fun in doing something if you don't like it.

Ogremon Gallery: I'm not at all familiar with Digimon so I'm unable to give my opinions here. I Googled Ogremon but am not really sure how to translate it into Neopets. If you wanted to enter a Tyrannian themed gallery for the victory of that war, you might win, because I don't really remember that one coming up before. But I also don't know how TNT would react to a Digimon-based gallery -- they might wish it was more Neopets-based, or, in all likelihood, they wouldn't mind.

Ghost Gallery: I like the Ghostkerchief because there is something intriguingly eerie about it and other ghostly items. It's probably the colour, which I think is quite effective. This is very costly though, and you may not be able to earn enough by this October to afford all of them. (I don't know how much money you earn on a regular basis so I can't say.)

With the Ogremon gallery, I was thinking of changing to just an Ogre themed gallery and have Ogremon as my user lookup but all of this would take too much time and I want to try to win in October.

And yes, I don't make that much since I only play about 1 - 5 games a day and I've never really gotten any decent scores. As seen by the lack of trophies in my display case.
