Okay, I spent a good bit of time making a blog for the newest random contest. I first saved it in .PNG, and when I tried to enter it a message came up saying it had to be .jpg or .gif. Well, fine, I thought. I re-saved it as .gif, but the resulting picture was horrid. So I saved it as .jpg. Well, when I tried to enter it, I got the same message again, telling me it had to be lowercase .jpg. (Mine's .JPG) Well, my computer only has upper-case options. Any advice on how I can get around this problem? Is it an issue with neo, or just with my computer?

*Edit* Fixed.

Just try renaming the file with a lowercase jpg. Try opening it again to make sure it works ... but it should be fine. Some programs insist on saving things with capital letters ...

You might might have to change the options to see the file extentions, as well ... that is some "option" in windows ... not sure what operating system you are running.

Yeah, changing the file extension would probably be the easiest way to go about it...

In Windows, open the folder your file is in, and select "Tools > Folder Options...". Click on the View tab and click the "Show hidden files and folders" option. If you go back to your file, you should be able to see and change its extension by renaming it :)

If you're using a Mac, you should be able to see the file extension as part of the filename, so you could simply rename it ...

Okay, I was able to re-name my file going through folder options. (In windows) Well, I tried to enter my blog again, and this is what I got.

Quote:
ERROR : File must be a JPG or GIF type image. (ie. have the '.jpg' or '.gif' extension at the end of the file name in LOWERCASE letters). You submitted filetype: image/pjpeg.

What now?

I had this problem until I changed to a different art program. IF you do ahve a second program, open it and save it under a different name.

Heh, that's really strange! If what stampsyne suggested doesn't work, maybe you could upload your image somewhere and post a link to it, and someone here could try saving it for you :) (if you saved it as a high quality jpg that would probably be good)

I can/could maybe give it a go, but I'm not on my home computer so I don't have the normal software I use...

I always have that issue then I save it as a gif and submit it no problem. They have an aversion to anything but gifs

Yeah, see, all I have is MS Paint, which makes my pic have this weird 'spotted' effect in .gif. My .jpg isn't that great either. To be honest, the only thing that looks like I want it to look is .png, but naturally neo doesn't accept that format. :P I would be okay with someone saving it for me as a .gif if they were willing to, and if the .gif was of a good quality. I don't want my work snatched, of course, but since it's an MS Paint pic, I'm not too worried. ;)

Maybe try using http://www.irfanview.com/ to convert your pictures.

I appreciate that, Aysz, but I don't go to links that I've never heard of before, sorry.

Erm, maybe get it (or some other image viewer) from Tucows or ZDnet then, if you've heard of them?

You've never heard of irfanview? :o I'd download it right away if I were you. But if you're still skeptical, I could try to save it for you if you want, and if you don't like it you can always ask someone else to do it. If it's any comfort, I've already submitted an entry.

lol no, I don't have much interest in internet downloads, I'm more of a sim-player. ;) In any case, I'm playing around with some options right now, so hopefully something will work. (Gonna try .gif, hopefully my comp will be nice to me.)

*Edit* Finally fixed it. I had to go with .gif, but I decided that since the spots were uniform, it looked enough like an overlay to be acceptable. Thanks to everyone who helped. :)
