He reported my neopets account and now it is frozen for one little thing i did. He also lied to the Neopets staff. How bad is that?

It says on the rules of neopets that if you have a shared account it is completely your fault if any thing goes wrong. We had a shared account and i did most of the work to get the neopoints. He wanted to split the neopoints in half (so we get half each) but i thought i should have these because i did all the work so i took them.

He reported me saying that i had gone into his account and took his neopoints. I think that is bad. Do you?

You took a risk, but he lied. The most you can do is attempt to contact TNT and explain the matter in an intelligent way, and hope that they take pity on you.

Well, sharing an account is illegal on Neopets. You shouldn't have done most of the work, and if you did, you shoulda made your own username instead of sharing one with someone who won't work for their NP.

Well, what does it say when you try to log in - the reason for freezing the account?

I do know a few people who were frozen for sharing accounts not that long ago. In that case, some people were apparently (I wasn't sitting next to them, I can only go by what information was passed along) giving out their passwords and letting others in to get game avi's. I know at least one of these people ended up frozen for sharing accounts. Not sure the reason for the others.

Both of you owned the account. You took all the NP. Sounds like scamming to me. Beyond that, people hav been iced for sharing.

Well, at least your friend did it to you. I was scammed by someone I thought I knew but didn't, but it wasn't even that same person at all anyway.

See, this is exactly the reason WHY account sharing is against the rules.
No offense, but I don't have much pity for you. If you make most of the neopoints, then why share an account with someone else? Go make your own and make all you want there, you don't have to share with a slacker.

*blinks*

I have a shared account. With one of my best friends for what now... 6 years IRL. She plays games on the account on occasion and I do most everything else. We've never had a problem, mainly because her interest is not in the Neopets at all, just the games. And I play the games too. *shrug* But the situation is far different then most other ones I hear about. Anywho... the point i'm trying to make is that not all shared accounts are bad. You only hear about the ones that are.

Agreed. I share a guild-related account with my husband. When our accounts were frozen a year ago (not for sharing), I simply made it a point to claim it as my own account when I sent in my request to have the accounts unfrozen, that way it wouldn't be an issue. (The request was granted fairly quickly once I got a hold of the right person.) I'm usually the only one using the account anyway, plus we look like the same person since we're using a router.

To get a bit more on the original topic, I can't necessarily blame the friend for being upset with you when you took all of the neopoints. Just because you did most of the work doesn't mean the account was more yours than his/hers. Sure s/he shouldn't have lied to Neopets, but you really should have taken his/her thoughts on the situation a bit more seriously. I do feel bad that your other account was frozen though. I highly doubt you'll be able to get it returned, just because the situation sounds a bit too iffy for someone to simply believe you over the other person, etc.

Same here. With my daughter. For almost 3 years now.

I personally have never shared an account, but my brother and his friend have, and so have two of my other friends. They get along good enough, because they trust eachother. I just have one question- are you and your friend not friends anymore because of neopets? I hope not. After i started playing neopets, I gradually got quite addicted to it, and probably haven't had many more friendships since- I show them it and they either think I'm geeky, or get addicted to it themselves.

Kitty, that is when the problems really start! And I think it's part of the reason why sharing accounts is technically against the rules - it many times ends up in tears.

The best you can hope for if you're sharing an account with a friend and you have a falling out is that both people will be willing to split whatever's been earned. Either that or someone usually has to be willing to just start over on their own.

Morningstar, I consider you "sharing" an account with your daughter as not so much sharing as helping/guiding/keeping a close eye on what's going on. That's something completely different.

Mylene, you're sharing an account, yes. But it's with your hubby and it's a guild account. Is this a secondary account? If so, there probably isn't much activity as far as games, rs, having a shop, etc. So I don't see how that could be a huge problem.

But in general, having anyone else in your account is just not a good idea. The account could be iced for sharing and the reason could be allowing someone in to play games for avatars if nothing else.
