Is their gender determined randomly?

Although I've never hatched one myself, I believe you get a similar page as Create A Pet and most of those options when you hatch a draik egg. You cannot pick color, that is egg determined. I do not currently have a screenie of it to share.

It chose the gender randomly when I hatched one - I remember that I had to go fight the lab ray scientist in the bd so I could get the gender changed to what I wanted.
