Thanks, everyone, for the advice. Cranberry, yours seems especially helpful for someone who hasn't battled a lot, but does have a lot of resources to draw from. I've checked out idb before, but it's a bit overwhelming, and most of the articles are for newer players with limited cash -- I'd rather get more expensive weapons in one fell swoop than worry about upgrading. I never realized they have forums there too. I'll definitely check them out. I've mainly only every used the site to decide if I should sell or keep a weapon -- if it says "this is worthless, it costs a lot more than such-and-such which does the same thing," then I know to sell it.
Here are my pet's stats. Which would be best to train up?
(level, strength, defense, movement, HP)
tuskaninny (lab pet): 14, 30, 22, 17, 59 (no abilities)
mynci: 39, 49, 37, 23, 31 (magic torch 2, spark 2, magic pebbles 2, smoke screen 2, heal 1)
flotsam: 26, 40, 27, 32, 28 (night vision 1, temporal leak 1, spark 1, magic pebbles 1, fiery gaze 2, smoke screen 2, fiery roar 1, heal 1, nighttime 1)
ixi: 26, 28, 31, 39, 26 (night vision 2, temporal leak 1, magic torch 2, spark 1, magic pebbles 1, smoke screen 1, fiery roar 1, heal 1, nighttime 1)
The only thing I've ever used codestones, dubloons, and free training days for is HP -- the rest is from quests, RE's, shrine, etc. I used bottled faeries to bless my pets equally (wanted to be fair, you know). In my SDB, I have the following bottled faeries: 3 dark, 1 light, 2 earth, and 2 air. I also have 47 codestones (some of each) and 30 dubloons. Should I use up the dubloons at night when I won't be able to retrain, and then switch to codestones when I can train more quickly?
Thanks again for all the advice. If there be a war, I want to get better than "peasant" this time around!
