I'm no computer genius or anything, but I've just got to say this. I've never really done the BD before this plot so I never noticed before the lameness of the Battledome designs. What is it that makes the Ice Arena different from the others? It's blue...ok...is it just me, or do ya think they could come up with something a bit more creative...like icicles or snow or something in a really cool artsy fartsy thing. It just seems lacking in creativity compared to the rest of the site...is it just me?

PS
It's not just the ice arena that's lame...it's all of them. I was just using that as an example

It is kinda cool, actually, that each area has its own arena. But more than just lameness, it never stays on the actual arena.
I don't think there's really much point in doing anything right now - but seeing as how they're going all-out with redesigns for different things, even the battledome is looking slightly out-of-date. If they're going to update it, then yes, they ought to do something about them. In fact, I wish they would do that. I'd love to be able to battle in a flash new battledome with different Arenas as different layouts. Even just different colours is fine with me. So long as it stays like that.

(But how old is this battledome arena, anyway? Is this the same one they started out with? I didn't think it was, but you never know... )

NO FLASH! Flash is slow on my computer (and many other peoples'), and a lot of people have problems with it in general. Some people can't read the flash comics, for example. It would make the BD really slow, and it already gets unbearably slow during wars. I'm all for cleaning up the design, but I love the functionality as is. It's simple and fast.

Heck no...Flash would slow up the progress so much...I'm just recommending that, at some point, they get their artists to design a new layout for each respective battledome. I mean, userlookups are better-looking than the site's battledome...bad sign.

NO FLASH!!!! I can't even read the comics! I tried loading the non-flash version but all that shows up where the comic is supposed to be is a red X!

I don't even understand the story right now... Sadness.....

But an update would be good. In the stone arena there could be skulls and rocks and stuff.

Flash (or perhaps AJAX, what stuff like Gmail uses) might make server-side lag faster - there would be no need to repeatedly generate every last bit of code. Right now, it has to repeatedly retrieve and send your pet's name, max HP, etc. for every step of every battle, which might be very wasteful depending on how they did it. With some client-side stuff in Flash (remembering max HP, names, weapons equipped, images, etc.), you can instead just send the things that matter, like the icons and damage done and such.

I think they were saying a "flash new battledome" as in a "spunky new battledome" rather than a "new battledome using flash"

*Laughs* Yes, that's exactly what I was saying. Thank you, I was just about to say that's what I meant. I don't think they should use flash at all - I mean, sure, for the people who can have it, it might make a lot of battles easier and better. But there are too many people that it will make irate. It would be okay to have another battledome with flash, but replacing it entirely? I used to have a flash-incapable computer, there's no way I'd suggest that after such experiences!

I definitely agree with the battledome being out of date. It doesn't even look as polished or nice as the rest of the site. I find it weird that in seven years or so they never really did anything with it.
