I have been getting this message for the past couple days..I was wondering if it's a neopets thing, or if it's just another reason I need to switch to firefox..or both.

Please don't switch to Firefox. Try http://www.neopets.com/explore.phtml instead. I don't know if it is a server thing or a browser thing, but I use Avant (and recommend it as a better IE so to speak; or Orca rather than Firefox, for various reasons) but with the www it works. :)

Yeah, but it's not something I do, it happens when I'm just clicking around the site...like when I'm restocking or going to my sdb, just using neo's links. Maybe my computer is on a weird setting? And it doesn't happen all the time, maybe once every half hour of playing.

And yeah, I don't think I'd ever switch from IE, despite of everyone and their mother bashing on it. I'm the type who think, eh, if it works for me, why change it? And I haven't had any big issues yet..And there I go totally jynxing myself..

firefox is safer 0:)
and the multi-tabbed browsing is AMAZING.
I was the same way as you until my own birthfather, who owns a huge computer company in florida, told me i should switch.

The Gecko engine may be 'safer' (only for some reasons) and Orca and Avant have tabbed browsing. Avant is more like a safer IE. It has the best features of Firefox. You can turn off ActiveX, Scripts, Java applets, even Pictures with one click. No plug-ins needed. Comes with a decent pop-up blocker of it's own through something internal similar to a HOSTS file that can be added to. But don't get me started. I am off topic already. And this is the only reason I didn't post on the Firefox thread started the other day.

But while I am here, I might as well revive the infamously hilarious Firefox story. :P

Both Orca and Avant are more like shells on other browsers rather than seperate browsers and can still suffer from flaws. Neither is really safer than Firefox. Firefox's main advantage is custom 3rd party add-on's which allow users to customize more than any other browser including security enhancements. As to the story you posted, that's not a problem of Firefox's. :P

I haven't been getting problems like that though the site has been glitchy lately, this seems to be a problem on your end.

Avant and Orca are both (very) full-featured browsers. The only difference is that they do not accept toolbars. (I would consider that a security feature.) Orca uses the Gecko engine like Firefox. (You can also use many of the same 'add-ons' made for Firefox/Gecko with Orca.) Avant uses the Trident engine like IE. You can research this on Wikipedia. Try out the browsers yourself to see what I mean. "Sounds like a shell of a browser ..." sounds like you didn't even check them out. I wish people would just learn a little more about what parts of browsers are exploited and how, instead of running to the 'safety' of Firefox out of a preference to remain uninformed over being a more conscientous browser-user.

If you are used to Firefox, fine, but for those that choose IE for whatever reason, Avant has always been The Safer IE (and had tabs way before FireFox). :P It's been up at the Microsoft site forever. It is more like a more stable IE7 (way before IE7) and goodness knows why they didn't release Avant as a browser for Windows instead of Internet Explorer.
