Ok, here's the issue: I have been labbing this pet of mine for the past 3 yrs or so. I only stopped last year october because strength has hit 200. Right now as you all know I am faced with the problem of irregular stats. My highest stat being HP stands at 396 and level at 65, strength-wise is 217. Currently. I'm levelling my pet mainly through terror troves, but god its gonna take a long while before I am able to equal up my stats. So in the meantime, I was thinking why not I adopt and abandon a pet to lab it so as not to waste the "free-lab-per-day" thingy. Also,there might be a slight chance that the lab may turn the pet into an avvie pet. :D

Before I forget, the reason why I am not letting my main pet undergo codestone training is because I am saving up for the Adam's avvie as well as SoS (should be able to accomplish both these goals in late April).

Do you guys think this is worthwhile? Spending the few hundred nps adopting and abandoning it the same day for the sake of obtaining an avvie pet and to stabilise the stats of my main pet. Thanks in advance for the opinions. :)

I don't know how doing such would stabilize the stats of your other pet, but I am pretty sure you have to wait a few days or weeks after adopting to abandon that pet. Having said that you might not get an avi pet on the first zap either, but I am all for the idea in general. I love zapping! :P

EDIT: Hrm, apparently that rule is no longer in effect? I was able to adopt a pet on a side, then release it again minutes later. But I am not sure if it works for all pets or was a 'glitch' or what? It was a Green Tonu, if that makes any difference? Maybe someone else knows the details of this.

EDIT2: Uhm, yeah and only one disown per day. I found that out accidentally. :oops:

I'm pretty sure you can adopt and abandon a pet on the same day =)

Anyway, why don't you just adopt a pet from the pound and keep it as lab rat, instead of adopting a new one everyday? You'll have the same chances to obtain an avatar pet and you won't spend a lot of money.

Because my lab account is all but full, and I'm still in need of some avvie pets, this is what I'm doing once my last two lab rats are done:

* Creating/adopting pets whose species will give me an avvie under certain conditions.
* Zapping until they change species or change into an utterly awesome, non-avvie color that someone else would love.
* Pound.
* Repeat.

The logic being that if you're going for an avvie pet, it saves NP to just keep the pet so long as they're of a species that can be potentially changed into an avvie pet. I don't plan on keeping them if they change species (unless it's to another avvie pet) because it might take months for them to change into a useful species again.

And yes, you can adopt/pound on the same day. :)

That only applies to newly created pets. The wait on those is 7 days.

Well, basically as I mentioned earlier, I am doing "terror trove" levelling, if I have 2 pets, levelling will be random.

Oh, sorry. I've never used the scratch cards to level up, so I had no idea how they worked*.

In that case, I don't think it's a horrible idea. You'd be spending about 350 np a day pounding and adopting, but in the long run, that's really not a horrible sum to spend. I say go for it.

* I know you quoted Loss, but I encouraged something similar so I thought I'd refute myself.

Oh! Sorry, I didn't get the Terror Trove bit! That's the first time I hear about this training system, and it sounds like a good idea =) Unfortunately I have 4 pets, or I'd do that too ;D

It just depends on what you want to do the most. Training your pets stats, or getting avvies? Personally I'd go for the training, you have more to gain there. You're not really 'losing' anything if you don't lab, although of course in general people hate to waste free stuff :P

But if you're not an avvie fanatic, stay with the levelling. I stopped labbing my main too, when it became clear training further would cost a lot more. I took more pets to lab, but my main has honestly never gotten any stat bonus from faerie quests anymore (I've had about 10-15, probably also because I made new pets or something, I don't get them as often anymore)

Ok thanks for the reply. Personally, my ultimate goal is to get into the top 50 avvie collector scoreboard, currently I stand at 262. Thus, by labbing the pet I adopt each day, there is a glimmer of chance that I might stumble upon an avvie pet.
I do agree that training wise, there's more to gain, but with strength pts standing at 217 and having 2 of the more powerful weapons in neopia (GSB & soon SoS), I'd say I'll have no problems finishing off any 1p battledome opponents.I guess at the moment I'll stick with "terror trove" training. Strange enough, I've been getting a healthy 3-5 faerie quests a month, in fact I've just gotten a queen faerie plus 2 fire faerie quests on the same day when I started this thread. Guess it was pure luck.

Just an update, after 3 days of adopting/abandoning, I've gotten a brown aisha from a normal blue one and a cloud gelert on day 2, today the cloud gelert turned into a red ogrin. Not too bad I say, considering that I've gotten 3 color changes within such short period.

Thanks for all the replies. Should you guys have any queries or whatsoever, feel free to post it here. :)
