First and foremost, remember that you may love or hate the new site layout, but you will not put others down for disagreeing with your opinion.

* SITE UPDATE! - Okay, so the Meepit from yesterday was just a diversion tactic. Truth is, as you might have already gathered by the new surroundings, Neopets has gotten a HUGE facelift and we didn't want to let the Kadoatie out of the bag too early. ;)

Here's a bit of info on the big changes... as much info as we could fit in New Features, anyway.

Site Layout
Neopets has gotten a whole new look (while keeping our famous eye-popping yellow, of course)! We've cleaned up, re-coded, and generally gotten out of the 90's. Hooray!

We've streamlined the navigation and added short cuts to some of the most visited places in each section. Don't be discouraged if you get lost while looking for your favourite pages or activities. (It took most of us a bit of time to get used to it, too.) If you're ever stuck, look for this graphic: Image Clicking on this will take you to our FAQ section, and that should help you find your way again!

More Info: (a bunch of links to FAQ sections)

Customise Your Neopets!
Ever since we started Neopets, the requests to dress and accessorise your Neopets have only increased. We've always said we'd never do it because of the work load, but we're allowed to change our minds and work ourselves to death if we want! As such, you can now dress and accessorise your Neopets with items you find around the site!

You can start by visiting Quick Ref and clicking on the "Customise" button. There are too many new features to explain here, so be sure to read the FAQs and the tutorial!

We've had to update some of the Neopets art to make them compatible with the customise system. In cases where we felt the change was very drastic, we've added the option to choose. If you and your Neopet are eligible for that option, you'll see a "Convert this Neopet!" link on Quick Ref. Click that for more information.

We would also like to mention that if you aren't happy with the change to any of your Neopets, don't go hunting for a morphing potion just yet! You may find justice early next week. ;) If in the meantime you need to get out some anger or aggression, may we suggest playing a round or two of Whack-A-Staff-Member?

More Info: (a bunch of links to FAQ sections)

Beta Beta Beta!
To be honest, the site is HUGE and there are many, many more pages to update, so we're not nearly done. Expect more updates, and don't be surprised to see some strange occurances here and there. Please report any bugs so we can get them fixed right away!

All this will take some getting used to, we know... especially if you're a long-time user, but don't be afraid to jump in. We think these changes make Neopets even better, so we really hope you enjoy them, too!

We'll return to our regularly scheduled New Features tomorrow!

* Oh, right... we're also launching a new game today - just in case all this new stuff doesn't cure your boredom. We thought ahead.

Here's the FAQ page they set up about the changes: http://www.neopets.com/s/index.phtml?cat_id=50

A few things Neopets seems to have missed:
- If you have to side-scroll, change your resolution to 1024x768. Everything will seem to look smaller, but everyone has been switching to it anyway. See the trends here: http://www.pcpitstop.com/research/vidres.asp
- Premium needs 1280x1024 to get usage of both sidebars in the site-in-portal feature. (As of right now, 1 PM NST April 26, it's still buggy, though.)
- Sidebar themes are now just site themes (or "top-bar" themes, if you'd rather.)
- The primary-colors Games Room has been taken out.
- As was noted in the news, some drastically-changed Neopets have the option of keeping the old look - but only some.

I'm starting to warm up to the layout.
But I still wish I could ditch the Neopets dialog. The NeoFriends one I like, though. :)

They've also got a LOT of updates they have to make like to the All Pets page. It still has the old designs.

Yeah, the layout i'm liking more and more. I mean, if you figure, the links are pretty much the same - only they're not down the side anymore there over the top. So far I really haven't had any problems finding links to where I need to go.

edit: I do wish they could make it the option to "be invisible" on the friends list thing. Sometimes I don't want people to know I'm online.

I'm slowly deleting most of my neofriends... this thing is annoying. I don't like random neomails,
"OMG LYKE UR ON HI WUT R U DOIN'?"
(sadly a direct quote from my last neomail)

GAH I got premium so I could HIDE! (well, that was ONE reason)... what's the point of this??

I've noticed clicking the drop-down list's header now opens that page (IE: Click "Shops" to go to shops, rather than having to wait for the drop down list and then selecting it)

All this wasted space in the sidebar of things I don't need to/want to see ...
and they couldn't add a direct link to Inventory? *sigh*

Now that really does not make sense. I'd make the NP total link to the bank, or something ...

That's ALWAYS bugged me since they implemented it. I think it should take you to the bank, too.

*shrugs* ah well... who are we to argue with TNT's "logic"?

Hey I'm actually adjusting to this new layout and surprisingly finding myself liking small things.

I haven't said anything on it as of yet, but the first thing I felt when I saw it was well outrage. :D After six years of being on Neopets and it being the same, how -dare- they change it. And then the silliness of that thought struck.

Strangely my favourite part... is the changing picture in the lower right corner. Some of them are just so NOOGIE!

I like the neofriend thing. Invasion of privacy? Pshh. Almost every other site you go on that involves socialising and communicating with other people will have some way of letting you know which of your friends are online. Actually that feature just gave another purpose to the whole neofriend feature.

So either this layout is growing on me or they just managed to bribe me into liking it with a new plot and ROODOKU! :P

They finally fixed Pyramids to fit the layout, but it's now so stretched out that it takes more scrolling than it used to (it used to be perfectly layered.) Well at least it's playable (it's a minor problem, but I'm still nitpicky about these things) :\

True, that feature is really good for people who like to chat a lot, I guess. But still, on many sites where people can see when your on, you have the option of hiding/online status not being visible. It think they should add that feature.

But lucky for me, the only two people who are my neofriends (besides my own side accounts) are my really good friends, so I wouldn't want to hide from them ^.^

But if I had a lot of casual acquaintances on there, yeah I'd want the ability to hide from them. I'm not always in a chatting mood! In fact I'm very often not.

I agree. The scrolling is very annoying...

I agree with the scrolling thing. I don't understand why the words stretch across the page, but the pictures underneath them only go so far (and not to the edge of the words). For instance, seeing my 4 petpets side by side while zapping, there were 3 on the top then a second row with 1 while the words across the top clearly extended beyond the 3 in the top row. I still advocate going back to catering to lower resolutions. They could still fit my 4 petpets in one row like they used to be and bring in the words so they don't overextend my page with extra useless white space!

Does anyone know what pets look normal and in what painted versions?

I used to have a really cool siggy, but people started ignoring my messages and only commenting my signature so I took it away.
