I'm sorry if there was already another topic on this; I scanned the first two pages but I'm not sure if there was anything before that...

Anyway, I was thinking about using my savings (which admittedly are not very large) to try to buy all the map pieces, but I'm not sure if it's worth it, since I may not even be able to afford the whole map right now.

So, two questions. Is it worth it, even if it would put me flat broke? And are there any pointers about collecting the pieces?

I found it was best to haunt the shop wizard and watch for the best deal on each piece.

It did bring up my pet's stats, but the risk is that the pet could have species or color or gender change, or lose stats. In the long run my pet gained.

For fun factor, I like to zap pound pets to more adoptable form and put them back in the pound to find nice homes. So it is fun.

If you don't have anything else that you'd rather spent your NP on, then you may find it a fun thing to do. You'll build up your points again in time.

I only use it to zap pets to make them pretty and then put them in the pound. I haven't made a profit on it, but it was worth it for me.

I've moved your topic to Neopets Help. :)

I do the same thing as Fidds...I adopt pets from the pound, lab them for a bit, and then pass them on to a nice home. I hope to gain a permanent pet for myself...perhaps a good battle pet with a nice color, but that hasn't happened yet. For me, the price was worth it for me to have something interesting to do every day on the site and to help other PPT owners get some of their dream pets. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to help other people :)

I recently completed the map. I used up a large portion of my savings on it, but then, I was not spending it on anything else. Between daily events, shop sales, etc, I am making back my money. Was it worth it for me? I am having a blast with it, I have gained and lost, changed color and now species in a matter of playing with it a week. So far it has really entertained me because its something new to look forward to every day.

My advice, which was gained through many people here, use the shop wizard. The trading post will run you 700k plus for a complete map. If you are dilligent, and don't mind going cross eyed, you can save a lot of money. All told I think I put my map together for under 500k by using the wizard and having a little patience to find the right price.

An extra plus... you can then use the Petpet lab and that map is significantly easier to obtain. :)

Hope that helps!

Ah, thank you all for your advice and words of wisdom, it really helped me.

Auttypie: I actually have four of the Petpet Lab Map pieces, and yeah, I know they're quite a bit easier to get, so that's a nice bonus.

I have about 800k right now and one piece from a random event, so definitely even with diligent shop wizarding I will probably end up pretty much flat broke. But then, I will be able to earn them back, and in the mean time I'll be able to play with a funky little new toy XD

I think I'll go for it! XD
