My Quiggle apparently gradually heals itself- adds hp. Are there equipped items that will do this? or what else would cause this? Or do all pets do it and I just haven't seen it before? Today, for example, he started out at about 27 hp, and this evening he has 42. I haven't used the healing springs since first thing this morning, nor the wheels.

Am I going nutz?

Did you feed your pet? That can heal hit points, I believe. Also, you may have gotten a random event and not realized it. ^^

I did get some random events. They didn't say anything about healing, but maybe they did...

Yes, I do feed the pet. I'll have to pay attention next time to see if I notice the hp increasing after his meal.

edited to add. I've noticed healing (4 HP every bite) when I fed the pet, as suggested above.

This morning I noticed that the pet had 20 out of 49 HP. I went to Coltzan's, then I went to underwater fishing, (doing the dailies.) After I clicked "reel in your line" I looked over at the pet's stats and he now has 49 NP (fully healed).

I never noticed this increasing of amount of NP until we got the side panel telling the pet's stats, and then, also, I usually keep the pet at full HP so may not have noticed anyway. So this is very strange. I don't have any expensive or unusual items that would heal my pet, unless it is the fairy wand that he is equipped with. But I'd be surprised if equipped items made a difference. I'd appreciate any more ideas about this happening.
