gallery layout help!

i want to enter the gallery spotlight. but before i do i want to create a layout to match the items. does anyone know somewhere with a guide to making your own? i dont want a premade one.

I also have a question regarding galleries: can you win the gallery spotlight if you have a premade lookup? Or is that considered a no-no? Because I'm going to put a lot of np into my gallery and will probably enter the spotlight (in a looong time from now, but still), but my coding and graphic abiliteies are... nonexistent?

id say you would have less chance of winning compared to someone who made their own layout. but you could just use a premade, aslong as full credit is given!

i spent like 1.5million on sophie the swamp witch items. so hopefully i'll win *crosses fingers and toes*

You might be a little less likely to win if you use a premade layout, but you can still win

So I may just be a gallery snob, just a teenie one, and premade layouts really make me cringe. And I don't know if you guys are obsessive like me at looking at past GS winners, but IMO who ever chooses the winners really doesn't give a fig about layouts. I mean, it should relate to your theme and you should do something...but it definitely doesn't need to be spectacular. There are weeks when fellow S&Gers and I are like..'seriously? that was the best they could find?' So my advice would be to make your own simple layout, just make sure that it is clean and compliments your theme. Content > layout for sure. As long as what you're selling is good, it doesn't need a super fancy package to win. And for every awesome layout that wins the spotlight, I could show you ten less than stellar ones that got through too.

i spent ages gathering sophie pictures for a little animation im doing. well more like a slideshow!

i'll show you all when its done.

although ive started saving for a meowclops for my gallery so it might be a while before its finished
