It's very recent. It replaced the toolbar.

The new inventory and shop layouts were released late Friday -

I posted on the Glitch board these changes:

Quote:

We now have the Market Place and "Jump to" menu table above our shops description.

It seems all shops now have the tables in them. A complete makeover for the whole system.

We also have an Aisha in a table and "Jump to" menu on our Inventory page.

We also now have 6 items across our inventory - this makes the page wider.

Most of the glitchiness on that day was due to the new changes coming in.

Is there a way to block the black bar that says "Advertisement" on the side? It's throwing me off my groove.

I don't think so since it's just text (although if someone can prove me wrong here i'll love you forever)

There is an image named something like invisible spacer, but it's used in a bunch of other places so I'm not sure I'd want to block it.

Personally I just find the whole thing irritating. I'm probably going to have to go through and block all the pictures that they used just to get a semblance of usable spacing back. Sometimes i feel like neopets doesn't have any staff members with HCI training.

Edit again:
okay blocking that screwed up some of the rest of the spacing but didn't affect the ad box. It was worth a shot though i guess.

I just checked through ABP, and I think B55's right. I know I was able to block the top "Advertisement" bar because that was an image. But it looks like this time, they didn't make it an image. That's too bad. I thought about blocking that picture too -- it's annoying to have to scroll down just to get to my items.

(Don't get me started on the 3 rows of word-links that the old shops-toolbar turned into. It takes a lot longer to find and click my SDB now.)

It is harder to find the link, I have to look through three lines instead of going right to the image. On the other hand, before they put in the new image the pages were loading faster for me since they didn't have to load the top bar with the images.

I don't get why TNT would think that there needed to be another image on the page. I am usually pretty flexible about the changes, but this one is a nuisance.

I don't like it either. Adblock seems to block the ad, but I think it stinks they put an ad in our inventories right above our items. The inventory looks too cluttered now and I hate that it takes awhile to find what I need to click on.

Merry Christmas!

Another "me too" on the disklike. I don't mind the re-organization all that much (or the blocked ad space). It's the lag time to load the inventory items (and shop items) that irritates me. The inventory items used to come up with the page load, but now theres a real lag after the page loads for me. (using Opera)

Well, my userContent.css file looks like this and I don't get any of the black "Advertisement" bars:

div[class="adBox sf"]{display: none !important;}
div[class="ad_wrapper_fixed"]{display: none !important;}
.neofriend{display:none !important;}
div#ban_spacer.show{display:none;}
div#bottomban{display:none;}
td.tl > object{display:none;}
#mb + form{display:none !important;}

.sidebarHeader{display:none !important;}

I don't know what they all do and which one takes out the black Advertisement bar. (I know one of them takes out the Neofriends display, but that's pretty much it.)

If there's a way to take out the space and top window with the Aisha using Adblock and/or CSS I'm all for it!

I used the Remove It Permanently add-on for Firefox to remove the bits I didn't like. It's great for cleaning useless or ugly crud off of Neo pages.

Woah! That ROCKS!

Unfortunately without the box there's no link to Quickstock. I think it's probably worth it to be rid of the box... but I wish they would go back to the old layout (or ideally, something even more user-friendly, instead of LESS like they did here).

EDIT: Ooo, that rocks some more! I can keep my links and get rid of the annoying boxiness by adblocking the stupid picture (I imagine using Remove It Permanently would work, too) and then using Remove It Permanently on the black space NEXT to the box (where the ad would be if it weren't Adblocked). Then the box stretches out to the width of the page and becomes something more like a normal header, particularly if I remove the ugly black bar on the top of the box.

Thanks!
