If there are still people around here that like to battle with Pokemon, then let me tell you that NetBattle is the right program for you. Created to serve the purpose of competitive battling online, NetBattle is extremely popular and is great (basically). (Netbattle.net is the website by the way).
Smogon on the other hand, is the major battling guide out here on the internet. With the most reliable information around, you can't go wrong with what they say on this topic. (Smogon.com)
