I just watched it last night. It's such an obvious Canadian Drama haha I love it. Not up there with Degrassi though.

In a certain CTV fashion, both Degrassi and Instant Star are produced by the queen bee of teen dramas in Canada, Linda Schuyler, she has a great eye for developing plot lines which can happen, but she also manages to smash them all together to make it seem everything that could potentially happen to a teenager happens all at once. Hopefully this wont be the case with Instant Star(not to say I don't have a rant about that too!)

Thus far, Instant Star doesn't have me overtly impressed, in fact, I feel that the characters are too..concievable. The jealous childhood friend? The amazing new guy, the confused main character and her angry sister? Granted, it's only the first two episodes, but I'm already finding it repetitive. Especially the jealousy that her best friend is causing, I think it's a workable plot, but they need to develop more characters, it would allow things to slow down, exploring Jude's life before winning, and comparing to afterwards. How things change with everyone, not just the one guy and two girls who sent out those posters.

I have faith in CTV, they've turned things around before, I suppose I just seem to be having a bit of trouble adjusting to this new guitar.

(haha, get it? "Im in love with my guitar"?)

That's the best part of the show! I love how they had to make the best friend with a crush be a nerd, so they were like "hmmm... how can we nerd him up so that she doesn't see him physically attractive... I know! Glasses and blue hair! That's sure to throw her off and will make her look harder for the obvious feelings he has for her!"

Seriously, this is one of those funny-because-it's-cheesy-and-predictable shows. Maybe not everyone finds those funny. I think they are hilarious!

haha, yeah, I do agree with that point. Im just wondering if that is what they were aiming for. It came off as a satire of the fame that comes with winning a big competition, but it's gonna turn into a joke if they don't give some serious points!

Good point, Moogum! :D

Have you ever seen "My So-Called Life" with Clare Danes. That has to be the BEST teen drama I've ever seen because it is so... undescribable really.
