Movie Reccomendations... With a typical twist.

Thu Jun 30, 2005 5:46 pm

I'm looking for movies...

Phantomy movies!

XD You expected that, didn't you? Well see, I'm looking for Phantom Of The Opera-esque movies because we have a giant movie collection... but only one copy of Phantom. D: Here are the three Phantomy movies I both have and have seen:

Beauty and the Beast (Disney)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Disney)
The Mask Of Zorro

Of course, it's typical, I can't find Hunchback. But still! Anyone know any even vaguely Phantomy movies?

Casper! The real movie.

Oh, you knew it was coming. I actually liked Casper too.

XD Fun. I don't have that, but I do have some old Casper cartoons!

Wait dang, I think we sent those to my cousin. Shouldn't have, they were good, if incredibly short.

Final Destination
Final Destination 2

Does Death count as a phantom? :P

Well i would go with Anastasia(the disney movie) it's actually pretty good, and since it's disney cartoon type thing it has music in it and disney music is always good music. A nice story line, and it has a phantom theme since they come alive for a music number. It's great and everyone should check it out!

I must insist that Anastasia is NOT Disney.
Nowhere on the tape does it say it is Disney.
It is a Fox production, akin to Balto.

I do have Anastasia, though. -.o

I'd like to clear up some confusion... by Phantom-related, I mean Phantom of the Opera-related. Erik-esque.

You know... people in masks? There's lots of movies where Erik (or some lookalike therof) gets a cameo... Gremlins 2 comes to mind... Probably a lot of Batman things, in fact I saw an ad for one today...

Then again, in my eyes, anything can turn out Phantomy if I think hard enough. Why, one of the most Phantomy movies I've seen is the 70's Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory

If you want something totally wierd, watch Phantom of the Paradise.

Don't have it. :(

Plan to see it one of these days! Man that looks wierd. A *record press*?! That's embarassing. At least it's a little more realistic than the 1943 Random Tub Of Acid!

By the way, I count many things as Phantomy. If you think it just might be - I considered Willy Wonka to be VERY Phantomy - if it has the slightest little reference to his ghostlike charm--

Oh my. Nightmare Before Christmas, haha. That's Phantomy!

And so is Series of Unfortunate Events. There's actually a funny story behind that, see, I went to school dressed as Erik and we were watching it in Orchestra, and the kids in Orchestra always say they're certain roles in the movie, like when we were watching Fantasia 2000, I was the pampered dog, George the viola player was the fat man, Emily the fourth-chair first violin was the little girl...

I'm going off the railroad track here, so, anyway, I called being Count Olaf. And so there's this little bit when Count Olaf is looking up from his newspaper, and there's Erik on the newspaper! And I screamed, "HOLY SMURF! That really IS me!"

Fun. :D

Well, I'm still not entirely certain exactly what you're wanting, but I would suggest Mask. No, not the Jim Carrey movie, but a movie with Cher in it. It's about a boy with severe facial deformation who falls in love with a blind girl. Or something like that, it's been a good 10-12 years since I've seen it. However, it does hinge on concepts similar to what I think you're looking for. Here's a link to it on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089560/

Oooou. Now THAT sounds like... EXACTLY what I'm talking about. :D I mean, I'm guessing he doesn't exactly punjab lasso anyone, but that's what makes it different and exciting! Thankies!
