Fave hp quote? *SPOILERS*

Mon Sep 05, 2005 1:41 pm

Whats your fave quote of the book and which book is it from?

Mine:

It seemed to take Sirius and age to fall: his body curved in a graceful arc as he sank backwards through the ragged veil hanging from the arch.

[OotP page 710 chapter 35]

This is also the bit that every time I read I burst into tears.......Like now for instance

Page 710? You mean I've been cursing 7-11 stations all this time for no good reason?

Anyway, talk about Original Order Group Shot-style unpleasant surprises.

My favorite from PS:
"D'you think You-Know-Who will leave you and your families alone if Gryffindor wins the House Cup?"

From CoS:
"It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

From PoA:
"THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED! DIED AS WE WOULD HAVE DONE FOR YOU!"

From GoF:
That bit where Dumbledore says that what the history books will say about Fudge matters more than what the newspapers will say - sorry, I don't have the book on hand.

From OotP:
"There are things worth dying for!"

From HBP:
"We must not sink beneath our anguish, Harry, but battle on."

Interesting how the last two are major land mines. But they're comforting land mines, in a Braveheart-esque way. Braveheart being my favorite movie of all time.

PoA, GoF and OotP are so full of good quotes that I had a hard time choosing. HBP is too, but that one really stands out.

Tharkun wrote:"There are things worth dying for!"

Ditto on that.

Also don't forget the all-time favourite:
"It unscrews the other way"

I like those. =) I don't have the book at hand, and I don't feel like searching for quotes, and Tharkun knows like, way more than I do, so I'm just going to go with her.

From HBP:
When Harry is talking to Scrimgeour and he's trying to recruit Harry, he clenches his fist to show the scars from Umbridge "I will not forget Minister". :)

"I just wish I'd asked you sooner . We could've had ages.... months... years maybe.."

Very sad
