I read a reveiw about it in the paper. Before that,I had never heard about it. From what I have read it is supposed to be about a true story, but of course they took a lot of liberty with the story, and thus it really doesn't match up with truth anymore. There was supposedly a girl who died during an exercism and the people preforming the exercism were sent on trial. This movie is supposed to be based on that, but I think they changed a lot of things up, from reading the reveiw. From the review they had a girl all lined up for the part of Emily. But then someone on the staff or another actress there told them about this Carpenter girl who was an amazing actress. They had all but signed up someone else for the part of Emily, but they brought in the Carpenter girl and let her try out on the advice of this other woman. So anyway, in a fully lit room she goes into screaming and contorting herself as if she is possessed. Then the people are all freaked out by this, because they said it was so real, and she was making all kinds of weird sounds that didn't seem human at all. Then they said she had the part because she did so well with acting possessed. They said they could save money on special effects, because they really wouldn't need any, she was that good! Just reading about this freaked me out and made me wonder how anyone could "act" possessed and make inhuman noices and screams that could freak a grown man out! In a lighted room during the day! Heck, maybe she is possessed. She said she just did it for an adreniline rush, whatever that is supposed to mean...
Anyway, the movie's creators wish to remain neutral and the actresses and everyone are not trying to promote religion. The veiwers are supposed to make up their own minds as to where the evil is coming from. Is it all around us, or only in our own heads? Is the girl suffering possession or is she having seisures and visions? If one person watches this they might think one thing, and someone else watching might come away with a totally different veiwpoint.

Actually, I'm going to be seeing this movie in a bit, I'll tell you all what I think when I do.
But I heard it was very "realistic", I understand what smudgeoffudge is saying but I think it's more faithful to the original story of Emily Rose due to the fact that there isn't any turning of the head, spitting out vomit or stabbing herself.

Yeah I heard that she died because of starvation during the exorcism rituals. Apparently that's what they were in court, to see if they had been neglectful etc and killed her.
I'm just going to say that one night I was watching tv and all of a sudden it went to the snowy type stuff you see during the ring previews, and on the captions at the bottom when there was no voice coming it said "this is the sound of a deamon possesing..." and before could even finish reading it I figured it was an Emily Rose commercial and I freaked, started searching for my remote and before I could switch channels the face of the actress popped out, the one with the black eyes and then I finally switched channels. this all happened so fast, in the middle of the night and I was freaked. Took me hours to go to sleep just from those couple of seconds. So in short, no I don't think I"ll be seeing that movie any time soon.

Omg, I saw the commercial for this on TV and it freaked me out... I sort of want to go see this, though, but it seems too scary for me (I get scared so easily
)

I want to see it so badly. None of my friends do though. Scaredy cats.

I saw it, it was an overall a good movie. It wasn't as scary as "The Exorcist", but it was a nice scary movie.
The movie isn't like a normal exorcist movie, it's basically parts of the exorcism and what exactly happened to Emily Rose leading to her posession. There wasn't any spitting out vomit, turning of the heads, or what not, it actually seemed possible (Some of the thing she was doing was scratching the walls and eating bugs).
If you like scary movies, or even if you don't like scary movies, it's still a good one to see. Not extremely scary.

I went to see this on Friday. Its not what the previews make it out to be. The movie itself is good, nothing special, but good. If you are looking to go see a scary movie, don't bother, because this isn't really scary. So it depends what you want really, if you want a movie to see, this is fine, if you want to be scared, this is just meh.

Its probably going to end up being my religion-themed movie fix until The Beast comes out in '06. Though I'll still like the Exorcist more, because of its projectile vomit and young priest/old priest line.

I've read up about it and from what I can see it isn't supposed to be a Horror movie but concentrating more on the court case

I didn't dare watch any of this movie's commericals. I was too freaked.
My friend has already seen it and she was so scared that she sleeped with her parents... And she's not a little kid. xD;;
She said the movie was like eerie and real-looking...
I get scared easily....so I don't think I want to watch this. Unless it makes me laugh, but probably won't. Usually gory movies and outrageous slaughtering or something might make me laugh. o.o;; Hehee, laugh when scared.

I can't even watch the commercials. I am not touching this movie.
