aye guys...im going to see this soon, and im wondering if anyone knows whether it is necessary to watch the 80's series, or even have a basic understanding of it (i.e. characters, setting, plot) ?

My boyfriend saw it, he knew a little about the series from his mom, but not much and he still liked it and didn't get all confused. His mom, on the other hand, didn't like the movie. Go figure. :/

I don't think it really matters, lol.

I'm going to see it, but you really should watch the television series, just because it was so cool.

I think seasons one and two are on DVD, and you can download the rest.
