An Inconvenient Truth

Tue Aug 29, 2006 11:17 pm

We get everything late in the UK, but I've read some very complimentary reviews about this thing with Al Gore in it. It is surprisingly uncritical about several administrations, so I'm told, and directs it's interest at the matter in hand.

Has anybody seen it? Is it worth me going to the local UCI or should I wait for the DVD?

It is great! I highly recommend seeing it. It was the best movie I have seen all summer. It is mostly science. Not too much politics, except nonpartisan calls to take action. I know I may be seen as having a liberal and scientific bias since I am both a liberal and a scientist, but my conservative step-father really liked the movie too and would agree at its nonpartisan, scientific view of global warming.

Just one piece of advise before seeing it, unless you live far from the nearest theater that has it (like I did), try to walk, ride a bike, or take public transit to get to the movie. (Sorry, but the movie told me to say that).

I must admit, when I first heard about it, and the fact that Al Gore was 'starring' in it, I was a little sceptical.

The one person I know that has seen it told me it does give you a whole new view of the issues, so I appreciate the self-sufficient transport suggestion.

I have a suspicion I might feel rightly guilty when leaving the theatre.

That was my step-dads view too. He said, 'I could use a good laugh' before going. After the movie, he was completely silent then admitted that it was nonpartison.

Watching this tonight.

I'll report back my findings :)
