Information

- Any band/artist is able to compete (Ranging from as old as Queen to as new as Taylor Hicks). The only thing is that they most have songs with English lyrics. No foreign music, unless they have broken the language barrier or are widely known by people. (Examples, Utada Hikaru and Ayumi Hamasaki)
- You may suggest artists/bands to compete.
- Right now, I am looking for artists to compete for the Best New Artists of 2006 poll. Here are the guidelines.

  • The artist's full-length debut CD must've been released sometime in 2006. EPs will not count. Singles that were released in 2005 are fine, as long as the full-length debut CD was released in 2006.
  • They cannot have been in the top twelve of any Idol (American Idol, Canadian Idol, etc). So this means that Chris Daughtry, Eva Avila, Taylor Hicks, Stefi D., et cetera can NOT be included.
  • They don't have to be on a largely-known record label (like Epic or Maverick) to be included. So, yes, they can be on an independent record label like Fueled By Ramen or The Militia Group.

- Every Sunday the votes will be tallied and a new round will be posted.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Love Rollercoaster FTW.

Red Hot Chili Peppers. I only like a few of Bob Dylan's songs.

Tough choice. Went with the Peppers since I hear them more often.

Bob Dylan is extremely famous and well known, etc. etc. etc., but his music doesn't appeal to me at all, and I've never liked his stuff.

RHCP

Why?

RHCP again, of course!

Mon Dec 18, 2006 3:37 am

Once again, I'll vote for the one that isnt RHCP just because...they arent RHCP :P

I do like Bob Dylan though.

Seconded. If anything this will give them a disadvantage (because of people that dislike the shows), provided that's what you're afraid of.

Mon Dec 18, 2006 5:11 am

RHCP. I like more of their stuff.

Mon Dec 18, 2006 6:08 am

Mmm, Bob Dylan...an amazing poet and storyteller. On top of that, not only have his songs been hits for him, but several of them have been covered and popularized by other people/groups.

RCHP is good, and I like them, but they can't compare with the scope and inventiveness of his music.

Mon Dec 18, 2006 7:38 am

RHCP only because I like their material better, even though I know Bob Dylan is a legend.

Well think about it. American Idol, Canadian Idol. The only winner from any of these shows that has made it in the UK is Kelly Clarkson. I haven't heard of any of those examples.

Bob Dylan's music doesn't really appeal to me as much (it's a bit depressing >.<), so I'll choose RHCP this time.
