Little Mosque On The Prairie

I just saw an advert for this show on CBC, it's a small town family with a "Muslim twist".

Premiere is January 9th.

It looks a little funny, and I may as well give it a shot. It reminds me of "Corner Gas" which I thought looked a little funny but turned out to be HIGH-larious.

Yes, I'm quite intrested in this aswell (being muslim). It's made by the Muslim company FUNdemnatals. I think it will be funny.

I think it looks great. I shall definitely be checking it out. :)

Finally, a sitcom takeoff on a classic. This show looks fun, and somewhat daring for the usual CBC viewership. Hopefully it's a chance for some education as well as hilarity.

This comment makes me think it will be terrible.
Why? Because you don't do daring well... you do it horribly badly while pandering to the lowest common denominator and praying on as many prejudices as possible...

I hope to be found wrong, mind you.

edit: Don't mean you specifically Xil, ofcourse.

The commercials, particularly the airport one, seem pretty funny. I'll give it a shot since my Tuesday shows haven't returned from break yet. (This makes it the first Canadian primetime show I'll watch since...ever... How sad.)

Just watched the pilot, and I loved it. Amazing; one hour wasn't enough.

I wasn't particularly looking forward to it until a few nights ago. I'm surprised at the amount of talk the show's been generating, I mean, it's a CBC show.

Now, after seeing it, it's a great show. I really enjoyed it. Funny and smart. I'm definitely looking forward to the next episode (it's moving to Mondays, right after Doctor Who (unfortunately, this puts it against Heroes)).

Some of the jokes fell flat, but it's definitely a promising start. Raked in a hefty 2.1 million viewers too (tiny for US, but massive in Canada), which will dive inevitably, but hopefully not too far. Poor CBC's trying to milk it for everything it's worth though- its timeslot may be Mondays at 8, but they're playing reruns on Wednesdays at 9, or something like that. Reruns in primetime. o_o

You mean half an hour. :P

If Lost continues to suck (or if I don't bother giving it another chance), I may actually keep watching this show on Wednesdays.

Mondays at 9.

Yeah - it was pretty good considering it just started.

Heh, I did mean Wednesdays (rerun day)- I have enough shows to watch on Mondays. :P

No problem Setekh, you're right. the show had a big thing on CNN where they bashed it to pieces.

Too bad it did so well, haha.
