As much as I like The Little Mermaid, I'm going to choose The Lion King.
Mufusa Rules!!!!

I watched both of them recently (as in within this week). Ariel got a wee bit on my nerves more than Simba. Well, Lion King is just epic...therefore, Lion King gets my vote.

This is a really hard decision- they're two of my favourite movies overall/of all time (not just favourite disney). I have a Baby Simba Soft Toy, the soundtrack on CD and I still remember crying when Mufasa died while seeing it in the cinema (when I was 5). On the other hand- the Little Mermaid was my favourite movie growing up....I collected the Ariel's World magazine (still have 78 issues!), and had a Little Mermaid cake for my 7th birthday. As most people have gone with Lion King so far (plus, it won last time!), I'll vote for The Little Mermaid- I want to be, part of your worldddd.
Flounder and Sebastian, but wow, not much in it.

Usually I just vote, but I can't seem to choose between these two.
The musics of both movies are very good.
The plots/adaptations of each movie are good
The animation of both is good.
Any other characteristic of the movies I can think of are both good and basically equal.
And I certainly can't chose between Hans Christian Anderson and William Shakespeare.
I'll have to mull this one over.

The Little Mermaid though the first time I saw the Disney version I thought Ariel would suffer the same fate that The Little Mermaid Hans Christian Anderson version did.
The Little Mermaid like The Lion King was popular enough to get its own TV cartoon series spinoff and more sequels to its movies. (I think The Land Before Time despite not being a Disney movie has the longest amount of movies in a movie series that any movie series has had with 13 movies in the The Land Before Time movie series.)
The Little Mermaid's Under The Sea song also had a parody on Dinosaurs called Under The Water.

Hmm... this one is really tough. I loved both movies. I think I'll have to go with The Little Mermaid since I voted for the Lion King twice before. I loved Flounder and Sebastion too

The Little Mermaid. No contest. It's got a lot more humor in it than the Lion King does, at least to me. I think the Lion King music is absolutely majestic... but the Little Mermaid was just more fun.

I agree with averly.
I love both movies, but I definitely have more fun singing The Little Mermaid songs. Part of Your World is still one of my favorite songs.
I voted The Little Mermaid this round. ^.^

Hehe, Jas, you just reminded me that one year in elementary choir (this was AGES ago) we actually sang a medley of Little Mermaid songs. Part of Your World was one of them...still a favorite.

Little Mermaid because I love the songs more than The Lion King (they're both great, but Little Mermaid's song are more fun!). Plus it's my little sister's new favourite Disney movie (I'm introducing her to the classics), so this vote is for her. :)

Am I the only person who doesn't like The Little Mermaid at all?

No, you most definitely are not. I can't believe it's winning.

Emotional (e.g. The King destroying all of Ariel's landware stuff) , Romance (It's only part of The Lion King whereas in The Little Mermaid, it is in most of the movie), Better songs IMHO than TLK. What's not to like about TLM?

As an adult, I find most of the humans/humanoids boring and most of the animals annoying. As a child, I was terrified of Ursula and that memory lingers. I'm also not a fan of the music of TLM.
