Record Labels

Sat Sep 25, 2004 5:54 am

Mm, anyone ever bother paying attention to them? For example...when some TV station starts playing a music video, that bottom line (under the artist and the title and the album name, if included) with the odd random company that produces out the albums and/or the videos for the artists? Or if you've just purchased a CD, those little icons. Y'know...like Universal, Warner, BMG, Epic, Sony, J Records, Jive, Capitol/EMI, Wind-Up, Interscope, A&M, blah blah blah...

If yes, which label brings out the most artists that catch your attention? Which totally annoys you?

If not, then...uhhh...never mind. :P

I look... rarely.

There are a few labels that I pay more attention to than others.

Hmm... I just checked. I have more Warner Brothers than anything else. With Maverick being a close second. Those are also the two I pay the most attention to. Like... if I see the Maverick logo, I'm more likely to think that artist is good.

Never, record labels mean nothing to me.

Very rarely look, and that's only incase I'm ever involved in some kindof general knowledge/trivia quiz that requires me to know what record label a band/singer is on.

No, I don't look. But I do think some of the best singers/bands come from Arista. Not ALL the good people, though.

I don't personally look at them when I'm buying a CD. However, whenever a music video comes on, I pay attention to the record company. Apparently Universal has the more popular artists.

I pay close attention to them. Almost all the bands I like are on Epitaph or Fat-Wreck-Chords. I've found that bands and singers I don't really like are on really mainstream labels, like Universal or EMI.

I never look at who produces out the albums.

Sat Sep 25, 2004 8:11 pm

Occaisonally I will, as I'm sort of interested about what CDs are produced by the companies, especially the top fuve record labels (Universal Music Group, EMI, BMG, Sony, and Warner Music)

cant say id ever noticed them to be honest.
mind my sister works for an english record companie (rough trade-they sign indie bands) but ive no idea where that train of thought was going, so its time for sleep i guess.

I rarely ever look at them or at all. All I care about is the artist.

Sun Sep 26, 2004 2:42 am

I do sometimes..if I'm bored. I rarely do.

Sun Sep 26, 2004 4:33 am

I rarely look at labels and I've never really purchased any album based on the record label. Thinking about it though most of the albums I was buying a couple of years back were mainly Universal and BMG record label albums.

I pretty much just notice the label when I buy the CD and see the label on the side of the case or something.

I don't really pay that much attention. I mean, I guess I know what labels my favorite bands/artists are on, but I'm not going to listen to or not listen to somebody just because they're on a certain label. If I like the music, great; if not...oh well. The label isn't really that important.

Just like the labels on clothing!
