The Biggest Loser

Wed Oct 20, 2004 1:23 pm

A new reality show about 12 contestants trying to lose weight. They are all overweight and they must resist the temptation of food. They are split up into two teams of six -- each with its own personal fitness trainer. The object of the show is to see which team can lose the most weight. After every day or two both teams weigh themselves and the team which is heavier, votes one of their teammates out.

I watched and loved it. I will definately be watching this show.

Well when you're a reality tv junkie like I am, you'll accept any reality show. Except for the dating ones, I can't stand those.

I watched it and loved it as well.
Not going to get all into it... but I really like that they're promoting losing weight the old fashion way (exercise/eat right). None of this lipo this or gastric that.

Also the show might inspire some overweight people into losing some weight and getting healthier. I mean gosh.. just look how much weight they lost in the FIRST week! :o Even the girl who lost 5 lbs... that's still alot of weight to drop in such a short amount of time. If that's not inspiring I dunno what is.

Two things I don't like though. Don't like that they're kicking people off, but I guess that's just the way things are considering that they are playing to win money.
And I really wish they had picked a different name for the show :P lol

And blah blah blah... I liked it and I'll be watching it again next week.

I hate Reality TV. So I won't be watching it.

But I am very happy that for once there's a Reality show with a good cause. I have to agree with Shollia. It's sending a good message.

Just when you thought reality shows can't get any worse... Dun dun dun... ;)

I happened to run across it on the NBC site today.... Who knows, maybe something good will come out of it.

actually i'm not sure if i like the drive of this show, since voting off one of your teammates is rather harsh and doesn't do wonders for your self esteem.

its like that other show we already have, you are what you eat. i despise it because she spends so much time dregrading their life, and patronizing them. weight loss in my opinion needs to be about positive re-enforcement and feeling good about yourself, not having other people scolding you and treating you like you are 6 years old.

woah, just read what i wrote, i guess i really don't like this stuff. :P

It's very unhealthy to have weight loss over 5lbs a week, some of those people losing 15lbs a week aren't losing it healthily and are the exact kind of people who are going to have to get surgery for saggy skin after they finish losing.

I don't like this show because once somebody is voted off, you've given them the glimpse of unhealthy loss and they have to go back to normal loss and they won't be as encouraged as the extreme loss they had before.

Techinically, each person has their own training based on their past and medical history. It says at the very ending of the show.

They gave us an update on how the person was doing once they were voted off. The girl who was voted off had lost 15lbs since the show. It's not saying you're not good enough to lose weight, it helps them develop their own weight loss diet.

Let's just hope spin-offs from other networks don't come out of it.

Supposedly, this is supposed to have a bunch of games and stuff that seriously make fun of the contestants....
