I'm probably not going to see it - I was pretty disappointed by the first one. I love scary movies, and everyone told me that The Ring was really scary, but it didn't scare me one bit o.O

Gone, forever.

The Ring had some comedy moments- the horse falling off the boat, that guy Noah who always managed to have a handy tool around whenever needed even though he hadn't had it a moment before.

I've read the first book, The Ring, but neither of the sequels. I want to, but I haven't seen them to buy.

I'll probably end up getting dragged to it by my friends who are scared of everything. I watched the first one with those two friends and they were really scared while I was laughing. The only scary part... the well at the end. ;___; I have a well nearly EXACTLY like that in my basement, for those who don't know.

I watched the Japanese version, never the english...*shrug* It scared me. I don't have much of a stomach for scary movies :D It's not so much that it scares me, but that I get to thinking about it and I can't sleep. Mostly because I have a TV in my room.

I keep having these weird half-dreams, where I'm like...awake and in my room, but something weird happens and I gradually realize that I was dreaming, but there's no transition to dreaming and awake. I had a dream that I was in my bed and something really small was like flying at me and tickling me so I leapt up out of bed and shot out to sit in front of the pellet stove, and I sat there for a couple seconds before realizing I'd been sort of dreaming. Then last night, I had a dream that there was this kind of shadowy figure standing in front of the TV at the foot of my bed and moving something around and as I woke up I gradually realized there was nothing there.

back on topic, eh? I don't think I'd watch a sequel if it came out. I liked the ending of the japanese version - all I remember was something that translated to 'I have a favor to ask of you.' and then she said, 'yoichi no tame ni,' which for some reason really struck me (basically it's "for the sake of yoichi [son's name]") and I quite liked the ending. It left you with questions. We watched it in Japanese in...eh...7th grade? Maybe 8th. Don't remember.

To save time... I'll copy/paste my opinion of it from elsewhere:

Sometimes I wish I could be afraid of bad horror movies like everyone else. I guess being raised watching the Nightmare on Elm Street movies (I was watching them from age 5) totally desensitized me to the whole genre. There's a couple of movies that make me really uneasy, but that's it.
And The Ring. Don't get me started. Everyone was like "OMG It's so SCARYYYY!" And I thought it might actually be. So I watched it, and I kept waiting for the scary. And it never happened. It was over and I was like "That's it?! I wanted to be SCARED! That wasn't scary at all!"
Yea.. I'm not going to waste my money on this one. Just gonna wait for it to be WAY overplayed on HBO like the first one was.

*raises hand* I was raised on horror movies and I can still get scared by a few movies now.

Anyways... what I think happened to alot of ppl who went to see the Ring (heh my theory)....
Is that it got hyped up SO much by ppl saying that it's so scary and blah blah etc....
People went in just expecting too much and what they got was a big disappointment when the movie didn't deliver this big scare they were looking for.

That's how it was for me and Juon (japanese version of The Grudge). My brother and sis kept pumping it into my head that it's the scariest movie they ever saw and when i finally saw it... I was bored to tears b/c I expected too much.

But anywho!!

I saw a preview for it when I went and saw White Noise (which btw isn't a good movie).
It looks more high budget and well..... Hollywood-ized.... if that makes any sense.
I'll still see it but from watching the previews.. I'm not so certain it's going to be any good.

Chass, I don't think it's because you're desensitised- I'm a bit of a jumpy wuss, and I thought the ring was funny.

The Japanese version of The Ring is way better than the English version, just because it's original and have the asian-mystic like.

Oh yeah, I just watch The Grudge, it was great, and I love horror movies. ;)

I've read the books, I own the mangas and let me tell you. If they mess up this sequal I will thouroughly upset! I'm a big fan of the Ring, but the American movie doesn't even come close to the excitement, symbolism and plot of the original book. Did you know that Samara (Sadako) was actually a hermprodite? Of course they'd never put that in the movie. I'll stick to my books. ;) But I'll most likely get all hyper and excited when it comes out and see it anyway.

I agree the American version is poop compared to the Japanese one.
This sequal is gonna be awful I doubt I'll even bother watching it.
